  • Turfco has been manufacturing topdressers for the turf industry since 1961, and offers products for all your top dressing, spreading, broadcasting and material handling needs.

Turfco's new WideSpin™ 1540 EC Topdresser incorporates a unique spinner design that allows operators to dial in a precise and clean application whether it's ultra-light or ultra-heavy and everything in between — with very few adjustments.

The new, simple-to-use electronic controller enables superintendents to lock-in their preferred width and rate of applications ensuring the exact spread they want each time their crew topdresses. Additional features include a patented three-position switch, new rear panel, and new shields. Also, the new WideSpin 1540 spinner angle has increased by 30 percent more up and down giving an even greater range of applications. Now, you can spread from as narrow as eight feet all the way up to 40 feet.

The TriWave 60 3-point hitch overseeder revolutionized fairway overseeding upon its introduction in 2006, and the new Walking TriWave version did the same in 2008. Both share independent floating heads (three on the 60” unit, two on the walker) to avoid the skipped shallows and mashed high spots (including sprinkler heads) of conventional seeders. Among the five patents on the machines are new WaveBlade technology to create optimum slits with minimal disruption, and a new seed delivery/diverter system with infinite in-field depth adjustment. The speed of the seed box paddle is tied to the ground speed so seed delivery is consistent regardless of ground speed. The 1˝” spacing accelerates knitting and establishment of the sward.

A one-button control on both units turns the blades on, drops the seeder heads and activates the seed box all at the same time—and the reverse while shutting down.

The Walking TriWave has optional narrower greens blades designed for bentgrass or Bermudagrass seed. The location of the two floating heads between the wheels enables the Walking TriWave to operate while turning without turf disruption—making it perfect for overseeding traditionally thin collars, walk-off areas or general spot treatment around the golf course.

Operation of the walking unit is simple, with a bail handle that is push-pulled in the desired direction of travel and the one-button seeding action control. Operating speeds are typically in the 3.5-4 mph range; a transport switch enables up to 5 mph travel between treatment areas.
