What's new at TurfNet.com?

For years, TurfNet has been known as the place where savvy superintendents gather to share information about issues affecting their jobs and lives, post and find jobs, and sell and buy used equipment.

In an ongoing effort to keep you one step ahead, TurfNet has added some new features and also is delivering some of its standby information in new and more efficient ways.

Don’t have time to visit the site as often as you would like? No problem, you now can follow TurfNet on Twitter . There you will find updates on information and happenings that affect you, including upcoming Webinars and new offerings on TurfNetTV .

TurfNet long has been known as having the best job board in the golf course maintenance business. Now, you can get those jobs sent directly to you the moment they are posted through Twitter and RSS , allowing you to get a jump on the competition in the job market.

Also new at TurfNet.com are automatic feeds from some of our favorite blogs, including BASF TurfTalk , Turfgrass Diseases (a collaborative effort of John Kaminski, Ph.D., of Penn State, Lane Tredway, Ph.D., of North Carolina State, Megan Kennelly of Kansas State and Frank Wong, Ph.D., of University of California, Riverside. Other blog links include Out of Bounds by Par Aide’s Steve Garske and ShortCUTT by Cornell’s Frank Rossi, Ph.D.

If Randy Wilson’s irreverent look at the golf world is not enough to keep you entertained, there is another new feature on TurfNetTV .

In Cooking with the Maestro, TurfNet’s own Peter McCormick shows the culinary-challenged how to find their way around the kitchen. Some of the Maestro’s tips include how to make your own oil and vinegar dressing as well as his “locally famous” gourmet meatballs and a tomato sauce made with beer and honey.

TurfNet also has recently added Career Corner , a weekly advice blog from Jim McLoughlin, sole principal of the California-based consulting firm of TMG Golf. The weekly feature, which debuted on TurfNet earlier this year, includes economic advice – valuable in these challenging times – tips on how to secure a job if you don’t have one, get a better one if you do and how to keep it.

All of McLoughlin’s career blogs are archived at Career Corner, so visitors can refer to them often. Career Corner also includes interactive feedback with the McLoughlin, weekly polls and links to some of his favorite golf-relevant blogs.

The blogs also make for a useful tool for assistants and can be printed and organized into a binder for easy reference later.
