    Toro sites provide education on drip irrigation

    The Toro Co. recently published an 8-page resource designed to educate people on the benefits of drip irrigation.

    Entitled “What is Drip Irrigation?” the manual outlines the advantages of drip irrigation, which include reductions in water, fertilizer, energy, labor and chemical costs.

    Toro’s new educational Web site, www.dripirrigation.org , was created to provide drip education material for those unfamiliar with the technology and its benefits. The site also includes information about drip irrigation design, installation, operation and maintenance, as well as software links.

    Lesco spreader/sprayer offers zero-turn control

    The Lesco Z-Two spreader/sprayer is available for preorder through John Deere Landscapes.

    The Z-Two is powered by a 19 hp, high-performance Kawasaki engine, and it can be used to apply granular and liquid products with zero-turn control.

    Features include a 40-gallon liquid application tank, and the handheld, 82-inch wand for spot spraying includes five nozzles and electric solenoid boom that operates in all directions. It also features a 125-pound electric spreader with remote-actuated gate and side deflector.

    Golf Inc. recognizes green efforts of Hurdzan/Fry

    The golf course architecture firm of Hurdzan/Fry Environmental Golf Design recently was named as a winner of the Golf Inc. 2009 Green Awards in the Product-Service Provider category.

    The awards are presented annually to golf courses, operators, developers, vendors and associations that have adopted programs, practices and products aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship.

    Hurdzan/Fry was recognized by the editors of Golf Inc. not only for its approach to golf course design but also for some of its indoor work as well. Some of the factors highlighted by Golf Inc. include the firm’s efforts to make its workplace more environmentally friendly through the use of energy-efficient appliances and lights, awnings, water-stingy landscaping and inclusion of recycled materials used in construction and maintenance.

    Bayer ES overhauls Accolades program

    Bayer Environmental Science has made it easier for professional turf managers to redeem points through recent enhancements to its Accolades loyalty program.

    At the website www.bayeraccolades.com , program members can track point balance, review account history and browse through thousands of rewards. More than 4,000 new rewards have been added to the program in response to customer feedback, the company said.

    The overhaul of the program will include more categories and prizes in the future. The program allows customers to build up points toward rewards by buying products from Bayer ES. Rewards include association memberships, tools, mowers, sprayers and more.
