Georgia turfgrass show scheduled for Dec. 9-10Registration is open for the 2009 Georgia Turfgrass Association’s Turfgrass Institute and Trade Show.
The show is scheduled for Dec. 9-10 at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga.
The event will include workshops, auction, educational seminars, networking opportunities and a trade show with more than 50 vendors all designed to meet the needs of golf course superintendents and other professional turfgrass managers.

.Arysta LifeScience names new president, COOWayne Hewett, a longtime executive at General Electric, will join Arysta LifeScience Corp. as the company’s chief operating officer.
In the newly created position Hewett will lead all of the company’s global growth and sales initiatives as well as overseeing Arysta’s supply chain. He also will be a member of the company’s board of directors.
He will join the company in October as president and COO.
In other company news, current president and CEO Chris Richards will become chairman of the board of directors and current chairman David Jones will become non-executive director.

.Irrigation Show registration openRegistration is now open for the 2009 Irrigation Show.
This year’s show is scheduled for Dec. 2-4 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
The event will include more than 300 vendors and exhibitors comprising more then 200,000 square feet of exhibit space. Sponsored by the Irrigation Association, the show includes educational seminars and is expected to attract more than 6,000 attendees.

.Finalists named for film competitionRain Bird has announced the finalists for its Intelligent Use of Water Film Competition.
The third annual event uses film to foster discussion and awareness for responsible water use. Finalists will be featured at a screening Sept. 23 in Los Angeles.
Finalists selected by a panel of judges are Cyrus Ruiz and Ron San Agustin of Sunland, Calif.; David Tuck of Austin, Texas; Jennifer and Christopher Gandin Le of Austin; Megan Schuyler and Diana Opong-Parry of Spokane, Wash.; and Keith Cantrell of McPherson, Kan.
