Two BASF products available in larger package sizeTwo products from BASF Professional Turf and Ornamentals are available in new packaging.
Insignia fungicide now is available in a 36-pound drum and Pendulum AquaCap herbicide is available for a limited time in a 110-gallon drum.
Insignia fungicide in a 36-pound drum is available during BASF’s early order program and will be offered year-round. Pendulum AquaCap herbicide, labeled for control of more than 40 broadleaf and grassy weeds, will be available in the 110-gallon drum only through the early order period, which ends Dec. 11.

.Jacobsen earns environmental awardJacobsen recently received the Environmental Excellence Award from the Environmental Division of Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C) Utilities for 2008.
The award is presented annually by the utility to companies that are 90 percent compliant reporting and monitoring discharges into the municipal sewer system. To be eligible, industrial and commercial facilities must obtain wastewater permits that contain limits on the amount of pollutants that they can discharge.
In other company news, a longtime fixture first at Ransomes and later Jacobsen has retired from the turf business.
Vollie Carr served 11 years as Jacobsen’s tournament support specialist after the company bought Ransomes in 1998.
Carr, who entered the turf business in 1970 and joined Ransomes some 10 years later, will continue to support Jacobsen’s professional tournament operations as a consultant throughout the rest of this year and in 2010, the company said.

.Economist to highlight NGCOA conferenceEconomist, teacher and author Todd Buchholz will be the keynote speaker at the National Golf Course Owners Association 2010 Annual Conference.
The conference is held in conjunction with the Golf Industry Show, and is scheduled for Feb. 8-12 in San Diego.
Buchholz was director of economic policy under President George H.W. Bush from 1989-92 in San Diego. He is managing director of the $15 billion Tiger hedge fund, and professor of economics at Harvard University.
Buchholz also is author of Lasting Lessons from the Corner Office.

.Registration open for Ohio turf showRegister now for the 43rd annual Ohio Turfgrass Conference and Show.
The show is scheduled for Dec. 7-10 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. It will include more than 100 hours of educational seminars from leading academic and industry researchers and one of the country’s largest regional turf trade shows with more than 200 exhibitors.
Presented by the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation and The Ohio State University, the show typically attracts more than 3,000 attendees.
