    Register now for New England turf show

    Registration is open for next year’s New England Regional Turfgrass Conference and Show.

    Highlighted by keynote speaker and former Major League Baseball umpire Steve Palermo, the show is scheduled for March 1-4 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence.

    The show also will include GCSAA-approved educational seminars conducted by leading university and industry researchers and a tradeshow supported by more than 400 exhibiting vendors.

    A sample of the educational seminars on tap include topics such as managing winter damage, computer training, planning a budget and controlling Poa annua in cool-season turf.

    Toro introduces walk-behind trencher

    The Toro Co. recently introduced the TRX-26 walk-behind trencher designed for professional use.

    Powered by a 26-hp Kawasaki engine, the TRX-26 features Toro’s Dingo TX-style control system that is designed for smoother operation and steering and more precise trenching. It also offers zero-turn capability for use in confined spaces.

    The TRX-26 can be outfitted with Toro’s 2-, 3- or 4-foot boom attachments that allow it to trench up to 8 inches wide and up to 48 inches deep.

    Sipcam adds to sales staff

    SipcamAdvan recently named Austin Young to its specialty products sales team.

    He will be responsible for sales and customer service initiatives in the Northeast for SipcamAdvan’s turf and ornamental line as well as all pest management products for the company’s subsidiary, Sostram Corp.

    A former golf course superintendent, Young has several years of experience in chemical and equipment sales.

    Jake shows off operation for First Tee chapter

    Jacobsen and the First Tee of Charlotte (N.C.) recently played host to 20 children for an educational event at the company’s manufacturing facility.

    The children, who were between the ages of 10 and 17, were treated to plant tours, career sessions and a putting contest with prizes. The visiting students also were able to see through three-dimensional design engineering software how Jacobsen’s turf management products work.
