As the Golf Landscaper/Greenskeeper at The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie (under the supervision of the golf course superintendent, assistant superintendent, or foreman) you will perform routine manual labor involved in and/or related to golf course maintenance (performing semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work). You will also operate small hand powered equipment and occasionally perform work involving larger equipment/machines (tractors, fairway units, triplex mowers, walking mowers, etc.). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Ability to operate equipment safely and properly including: String trimmers Edgers Backpack blowers Maintain bunkers, ball washers, fuel and fluid levels of equipment required to perform job duties, and related supplies. Return all equipment to the designated location in the maintenance facility Promptly report any equipment issues. Assist in project work including, but not limited to: Construction of greens, tees, and fairways Prepare soil base Lay sod Seed tees, greens, and fairways Safely and properly operate trucks and light motorized equipment. Maintain effective communication with the guests and fellow team members. Initiate contact with guests within 15 feet, with a sincere welcome and the willingness to assist the guest. At the conclusion of the guest’s visit, offer a genuine thank you and invitation to return. Always yield to the guest. Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety rules and wearing appropriate safety equipment including safety helmets, ear protection, and non-skid shoes. Complete required job duties in the most efficient, productive manner ensuring a well-groomed golf course. Assist in maintaining a clean environment including picking up trash in visible areas and eliminating clutter. Dressed in uniform at the start of each shift. Uphold a reliable and responsible work ethic with the ability to follow directions both verbal and written. Maintaining focus on the job at hand with a sense of ownership in quality of job performance. Able to work weekends and holidays, mornings, and evenings as business demands. Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor.

The Landscape Install Laborer is responsible for assisting with the installation of landscape projects. This role involves performing a variety of physical tasks to ensure that landscapes are installed according to design specifications. The Laborer will work under the direction of the Landscape Install Foreman and as part of a team to create high-quality outdoor environments. Key Responsibilities:  Prepare job sites for installation by clearing debris, grading soil, and marking areas according to project plans.  Assist with the installation of trees and plant material, digging, banding and staking, installation of landscape edging, mulching, tear out and laying of new sod, tear outs of unwanted landscape material and tree relocations, etc.  Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.  Ability to operate heavy equipment a plus.  Operate basic landscaping tools and equipment, such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and small machinery.  Maintain a clean and organized job site by removing waste, debris, and unused materials.  Assist in the final cleanup and detailing of completed projects.  Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Plan, schedule and supervise daily production activities on assigned contracts. Develop a clear understanding of the hourly and cost budgets for each of your jobs. Monitor by reviewing job hours, reports, and job costs regularly and taking action as needed. Communicate budget hours to assistants and crewmembers. Develop a good relationship with the client on every job. Monitor quality of work and be proactive in bringing issues to the customer’s attention by inspecting the job at the end of each day and completing property service reports. Sell an acceptable level of extras through the use of T&M tickets. Maintain assigned vehicle and equipment in good working order. Qualifications: Demonstrated skill and ability to manage others at other levels. Demonstrated skill and ability to work with service customers. At least one year of experience doing contract maintenance work in a commercial setting. Ability to identify and diagnose insect and disease problems and schedule appropriate treatment. Working knowledge of vehicles and equipment used in contract maintenance and snow removal.
