Boot Ranch is a Hal Sutton design, located in Fredericksburg the heart of the Texas Hill Country.  The property consists of an 18-hole championship golf course, 35-acre golf Practice Park, Ranch club with pools and sports campus, clubhouse, private lake club, fitness center, and newly completed racquet club. The course has 8-year-old tifeagle greens and wall to wall tifsport. The membership is extremely supportive of all staff members and strives for Boot Ranch to be the best employer in the surrounding area.     This position is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to get some hands-on experience with several course enhancement projects throughout the season.  Interns will be involved in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the golf course including but not limited to small staff management, help in daily planning, spraying, record keeping/recording data and water management.  The interns will work closely with the assistant’s, superintendent, mechanic, and a year-round crew of approximately 25. This summer we will be working on several in house project: installing drainage, building new tee boxes, and working on various irrigation projects. All of these will be excellent opportunities to broaden your knowledge.

At 1,582 feet, the highest point in Huntsville, The Ledges offers an 18-hole championship golf course like no other in Alabama. The award winning course was designed by Hurdzan/Fry GCD, Inc., and first opened in 2000. In 2003, Designer Mike Hurdzan was named Designer of the Year by Golf Magazine for his work at The Ledges. He was also chosen as the recipient of the 2013 Old Tom Morris Award by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. The goal of The Ledges developers was to preserve the mountain’s natural beauty while creating a world-class golf course. Of the 750 acres set for development, 450 acres were set aside as a natural green belt protecting it from future development. 250 acres of the land are now a nationally recognized golf course, while 150 acres are used for the mountain’s residential development. Bent grass greens, Zoysia fairways and Bermuda rough make up the landscape of the course. Designed with 5 different tee sets, sculpted greens and fairways and challenging bunkers, the course offers golfers of all skill levels an outstanding golf experience. Our internship program offers students hands on experience in every facet of golf course management ranging from equipment operation, application of fertilizers and pesticides, and daily golf course set up. In addition to experience gained on the course, our Golf Course Superintendent provides weekly educational meetings covering topics such as professionalism, marketability, calibration, nutrition requirements and timing, soil testing, irrigation, budgeting, and compound and fertilizer programs. The Club is currently working with Golf Course Architect Andrew Green and a full course restoration / renovation that will reconstruct all bunkers, replace the irrigation system, reconstruct teeing surfaces, conversion of fairways from 419 Hybrid Bermudagrass to Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass, and install hydronics in all putting surfaces.  Construction will begin in April 2025 on the practice facility and the golf course is scheduled to close in the Fall of 2025.  This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to construction and grow, while also managing Bentgrass putting surfaces in the transition zone.

The course features 18 holes of championship golf and two unique experiences: the links-style front nine holes with fairways protected by trees and fescue grass—and the back nine, where Lake Martin comes into play on six holes. Today, the course measures 7,465 yards from the championship tees and includes six sets of tees to accommodate all levels of play. Twelve holes are located along the shores of Lake Martin – and all 18 holes have a view of the lake. Willow Point Golf and Country Club will close in February 2025 for a course renovation led by the world-renowned Fry/Straka Golf Course Design Group.  Job Description: This internship will be tailored to fit each intern’s strengths and weaknesses, preparing you for the next step in your career as an Assistant Superintendent. Working closely with the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendents, and Assistant Superintendents, interns will have wide-ranging responsibilities that will prepare them for the high expectations of being an Assistant Superintendent.  Responsibilities: At Wicker Point, interns will learn course prep and setup, water management, cultural practices for TifEagle and Zeon Zoysia, fertilizer/pesticide calibration, mixing and application (including training on GPS sprayers), crew management, troubleshooting/repairing the Toro 2-wire irrigation system, and involvement in course improvement projects. While working at Willow Point, interns will be involved in course prep and setup, water management, fertilizer/pesticide calibration, mixing and application (including training on GPS sprayers), crew management, and learning the details of a golf course restoration project. Interns will gain valuable experience in USGA greens construction, Toro irrigation installation, Better Billy Bunker construction, and grassing of greens, tees, and fairways.

Nantucket Golf Club is a private and exclusive golf club located on an island 30 miles from Cape Cod.  Nantucket has been continuously ranked as the ‘best island’ and ‘top island’ of the US and World. We continually improve the course through capital projects. This past offseason, we finished a complete renovation of our bunkers. During the Spring of 2025, we will complete a much smaller bunker project, which will focus on refining a handful of bunkers, while adding a few new bunkers. We began our irrigation replacement project (Toro 2-wire system) after Labor Day, with planned completion by May of 2025. We began to restore our irrigation pond on our 8th hole in the Spring of 2024 and will complete that project this fall. This is a great opportunity for the right student to experience state of the art golf course management practices, facilities, equipment, and construction and project management. Lancaster Country Club is seeking motivated individuals to become a part of their management team.  LCC is identified as a platinum club of America and serves as a premier 27 hole private facility located in central PA.  On a 427 acre property, the championship 18 hole “Old” course was designed by William Flynn and is consistently ranked among the top 10 in the state and currently is within the top 100 classic courses of the United States.  The additional nine holes known as Highlands is a links style layout used in rotation with one of the Flynn nines on occasion.  In 2015 and 2024, the old course played host to the United States Women's Open with record breaking attendance and reviews.  The club has recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation to facilities including a practice green and driving range renovations along with a complete bunker renovation to the Old course.   The position will work closely with the management team to conduct everyday tasks while providing championship conditions on a daily basis.  Tasks will include but are not limited to: Daily course setup, water management, pest & disease identification, chemical and fertilizer calibration/applications and weekly turf informational sessions. The Country Club of Detroit is a HS Colt/CH Allison original design from 1912 that has played host to (2) US Amateur Championships, and has recently successfully hosted the 2021 US Senior Amateur Championship. The most recent architectural imprint on the property today is with Renaissance Design, who completed a large scale renovation in 2010-2011 with complete reconstruction of all greens & tees, as well as re-grassing of fairways & renovating bunkers. A large scale tree management program was initiated at this time as well. Their design has brought back many design parameters with a ground game golf course. There have been recent upgrades as well with green side bunker removals on 4 holes and the incorporation of 2+ acres of bentgrass bailouts for extended playability options.  The Country Club of Detroit, or CCD as it is known to our membership & staff, sits northeast of Downtown Detroit in the vibrant, exclusive suburb of Grosse Pointe Farms. The Championship Course currently sits within the top 200 classical courses in America, per Golfweek. Cherry Hills Country Club is looking for its 2025 class of interns who are eager to learn, work hard, and enjoy all that Denver, Colorado has to offer. Cherry Hills Country Club is home to an 18-hole championship golf course and features a 9-hole short course. The club was established in 1922, designed by William Flynn, and has hosted 14 championships, highlighted by the recent 2023 U.S. Amateur won by Nick Dunlap. Champions include the likes of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Birdie Kim, and Jack Nicklaus. The course consists of bent/ poa push-up greens with fairways, tees, and rough that are bluegrass/ rye.     Our goal is to provide you with the experience necessary to take the next steps in your turfgrass career. Expectations of the club and our membership are extremely high, and we work hard to meet and exceed those expectations. Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): ·         Sprayer and spreader calibration ·         Chemical and fertilizer application ·         Water management, hand watering ·         Irrigation maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and improvements ·         Course set-up ·         Mowing of all playing surfaces ·         Aerifcation and cultural practices (verticutting, needle-tining, topdressing, etc.) ·         Equipment operation on all machinery ·         Partake in projects and small crew management Housing, lunches, uniforms and golf privileges are included in the internship as well as ample opportunity for overtime. We also encourage and will cover costs for tournament volunteer opportunities during the internship.  The opportunity for a full-time position is available if the correct candidate can fulfill our expectations throughout their tenure as an intern and work well with our team. The Tom Fazio design has been consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the state of Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. Interns will work closely with our Superintendents to become proficient in daily course preparation, agronomic and cultural practices, irrigation maintenance, chemical/fertilizer calibration and application, water management, equipment setup and maintenance, detailed record keeping/inventory and other tasks as assigned. Interns will be cross trained in all facets of golf course maintenance and operations, including in-house construction projects. This is a tremendous learning opportunity for those striving to grow personally and professionally in the turf industry. Interns will attend bi-weekly meetings with the Director of Grounds, Golf Course Superintendent, and other members of our turf team to discuss and understand the decisions we make daily, review all cultural and maintenance practices, examine our pesticide program and why we are applying the products, as well as the importance of communication with the Equipment & Shop Manager when it comes to equipment usage.  Primary Responsibilities:              Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in providing the membership with the best possible course and grounds conditions. Daily course preparation and set-up Golf course maintenance including mowing of greens, tees, fairways and roughs, aerification, divot filling, etc.  Hand watering and turf grass stress management Equipment setup and maintenance Detailed record keeping and inventory Topdressing program and application Tree maintenance Hazard maintenance Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Director of Grounds Required Skills:                               Must have a drive, passion, positive attitude, and ability to work in team settings Solid knowledge of the game of golf  Ability to make quick decisions Must have a driver’s license Must be enrolled in an accredited 2 or 4-year Turfgrass Management or Plant Sciences Program Physical Requirements:  Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours Able to lift to 50 lbs. Old Sandwich Golf Club is a private 18-hole golf club located in historic Plymouth, Massachusetts. Old Sandwich Golf Club was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, and modeled after classic golf architecture, with attention and emphasis placed on golf in a natural setting. Old Sandwich Golf Club opened for play in 2004 and is currently ranked in the top 100. The golf course has fine fescue/colonial bentgrass fairways with fine fescue rough. The greens and tees have been seeded to a mixture of bentgrasses. Interns will be actively involved in all facets of maintaining the golf course, including, but not limited to, course set up, spraying, fertilizing, irrigation repair, hand watering, mowing, and other daily golf course operations. POSITION DESCRIPTION: This seasonal internship will expose a motivated individual to all facets of golf course management encountered in the Rocky Mountains. Sitting at nearly 8,000’, the Yellowstone Club offers the Intern the experiences required to maintain cool-season turf to high standards in a short growing season.   The Student Intern works closely with the Director of Agronomy, Superintendent, and assistant superintendents, actively participating in a variety of agronomic practices essential in preparing for a career in the Golf Course Management industry.  Additional responsibilities include the overall detail condition of a group of golf holes throughout their internship, where the intern will have the opportunity to lead small crews, showcasing their organizational skills and leadership capabilities.    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ·         Assist in routine agronomic practices in the upkeep of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, ponds, streams and related structures. Proficient on a variety of equipment with the ability to properly demonstrate equipment use to co-workers. ·         Monitor soil conditions using POGO sensors, hand-watering as needed. ·         Perform sprayer and spreader calibration and application of fertilizers and pesticides. ·         Maintain application records related to the use of chemicals on the course, while tracking chemical inventories. ·         Daily course set-up and club tournament preparations. ·         Constant monitoring of the turfgrass systems during the growing season, ensuring the proper water, nutrient, and disease prevention levels. ·         Project coordination and crew leadership on a variety of tasks associated with assigned golf holes. ·         Other duties as assigned.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Works closely with the seasonal maintenance staff, ensuring proper and safe use of maintenance facility and equipment, and will occasionally supervise a small team for specific projects especially on assigned holes.  The Intern must be a self-starter, willing to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, holidays and diverse tournament schedules.  While overtime is always offered, Yellowstone Club strives for a work-life balance, offering two days off per week throughout the internship.
