Originally located on Milwaukee’s East Side, the Country Club moved north to its present site in 1911. After several redesigns, the present golf course was officially opened on July 4, 1929. The course was designed by famed architects Harry S. Colt and Charles H. Alison. The Club hosts approximately 15,000 rounds annually and features a practice range and short game area. Additional amenities include: nine asphalt tennis courts, three hydro-clay tennis courts, two paddle tennis courts, two croquet courts, pool, pool pavilion with dining bar and kitchen, snowshoeing, sledding, and cross-country skiing. The Club has 455 members. In 2005, noted golf course architect Tom Doak of Renaissance Golf Design, Inc. agreed to develop a long-range plan for the club. Many of Mr. Doak’s recommended changes have been incorporated in today’s course. The club’s long-range plan will serve to confirm, preserve, and restore the traditional Colt and Alison heritage which makes Milwaukee Country Club’s course a truly distinguished venue for the game we all love. Milwaukee Country Club is annually ranked among the Top 100 golf courses in the United States. Golf Magazine currently ranks Milwaukee Country Club as the #71 golf course on their Greatest in America list. The club has hosted several national events which include: 1903 Western Open, 1969 Walker Cup Matches, 1988 U.S. Senior Amateur, and 2008 U.S.  Mid-Amateur. In 2022, the Club will host a USSGA event at the end of August as well as the Marquette University Intercollegiate event in October. The Milwaukee Country Club resides on a 200-acre property about 10 miles north of downtown Milwaukee. Greens, tees, and fairways are predominately older cultivars of bentgrass/poa mix. The golf course consists of a large area of highly maintained turf which includes: 4 acres of greens, 6 acres of approach/surrounds, 36 acres of fairways, and 3 acres of tees.

Trinity Forest Golf Club is a Coore/Crenshaw designed golf course located just south of downtown Dallas. We are a course built to host championship golf and produce world class conditions for our members and guests. In 2023 we were named the #1 courese in the state of Texas. Previously we have hosted the PGA Tour AT&T Byron Nelson, The Stephens Cup, Trans Mississippi Am, as well as annual mens and womens college invitationals.  In 2025 we will be the host site of the USGA Jr. Amateur. The course consists of Trinity Zoysia shortgrass, Champion Bermuda greens and a native blend of 40 species.  The agronomy department at the club believes in a work/life balance. Rarely do we work more than 45 hours per week. Our staff of 40 is able to do many tasks without the need for overtime. If you have a family beach trip or your cousin's wedding, we will accomodate for that.  Summer interns at Trinity Forest are taught how to be a sucessful assistant superintendent. You will not be push mowing rough, pulling a hose all summer, or weedeating. We tailor our internship to the needs/wants of every student. Important things you will be doing are but are not limited to: daily data collection, spraying greens/tees/fairways, participating in daily meetings with assistant superintendents, fertilizer/sprayer calibrations. Our goal for each student is for them to leave with the basic skills of an assistant superintendent. When you are hired for your job out of school, you will be ahead of most other college graduates. The Ridgewood Country Club is seeking student interns for the 2025 golf season. We are a 27-hole A.W. Tillinghast designed club located in northeast New Jersey,  just 20 minutes from New York City. The golf course is set on two hundred and forty-five acres, has a thirty-eight person maintenance staff and will have an operating budget of $4,000,000+ in 2025. Located on 900 acres along the coastal marsh of South Carolina, Seth Raynor designed Yeamans Hall Club to be an elite club in the Southeast from its beginnings in 1925. In 2016, Yeamans Hall went through a major renovation to restore the golf course to the original design through the work of Jim Urbina where all greens were expanded to the original shape and size and regrassed with Champion G12 Bermudagrass. All fairways, tees, and collars were converted to Celebration Bermudagrass and a new irrigation system was installed. Yeamans Hall is currently ranked #99 in the United States and #3 in the state of South Carolina.

The Pittsburgh Field Club is a private 18-hole country club, established in 1882, located just 8 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. The Field Club, as it’s known in Pittsburgh, hosted the 1937 PGA Championship, the 1959 Western Open, and the 2023 Pennsylvania Amateur Championship. Also, the club hosts the Pittsburgh Open every third year. The course was designed by Alexander Findlay in 1914. In 2012, Keith Foster developed a Master Plan for the club. In recent years, we have completed a bunker and green surrounds renovation, fairway re-contouring, a  complete driving range renovation, and completed a state-of-the-art short game area. Future projects include: tee and cart path renovations, and a new irrigation system.  One feature unique about Pittsburgh Field Club is we have an elevator(pictured above) that transports walkers from our 17th green to the 18th tee.  The elevator was built in 1938. The Turf Internship position is a collaborative one with the Superintendent and Assistants. The position will strengthen the candidate’s agronomic knowledge and course conditioning expertise. The position will prepare the candidate for an Assistant-In-Training position here at Winchester or wherever the candidate would like to progress their career. The objective of the position is to educate the individual on the basics and the continued expertise of turf management as well as how the course is set up for play each day. The individual is asked to absorb information pertaining to plant health, course conditioning, course set-up and learn to understand operational logistics. The position is designed to build the ground work and establish a foundation of agronomics (plant & soil science), infrastructure (drainage, irrigation piping & electrical components, pumphouse, buildings, transportation paths), be a part of course projects big & small, boost crew morale, understand weather & disease pressure forecasting and observations, cultural practices, moisture management, quality of cuts, and course set-up (tee marker locations, pin locations, green speeds and firmness, shot selection, how the course is played through the golfers viewpoint each day, fescue/rough/bunker playability) to name a few. The candidate will be immersed in educational and informative conversations relating to agronomics and course preparations with the Superintendent and Assistants. The candidates will experience all aspects of what it takes to be a great turf manager, and to provide the membership with the best possible golfing experience through unmatched golf course conditioning on a daily basis. The candidate will communicate with the Turf Team (Super, Assts & AITs) on the details of general maintenance performed on course and clubhouse grounds, and work with the Greenskeepers on upholding the expectations of the Grounds Department. The candidate will work side-by-side with the crew on their staff assignments, be responsible for irrigation/water needs for all surfaces and become an expert with plant health and conditioning. Vineyard Golf Club is well known as the premier sustainable golf course in America.  We provide our membership with a first class golf experience while managing the turf and landscape with unique strategies.  Our daily goal is to provide respectable playability conditions without using our restrictions as an excuse.  Due to our severe restrictions, we tend to use more labor and resources to achieve our goal(s).  Given our strict restrictions, we don't have the luxury to call the person "down the road" for advice or compare strategies.  It has allowed us to conduct our own in-house research.  We started this program a few years ago and it has been very rewarding as we have made progress to solve some of our many battles. **We will be posting a separate seasonal internship for the golf course and grounds, this is a unique position & opportunity.  This person will help on the golf course at certain times though** Our two previous Research Managers have moved onto successful roles.  We are now looking to try a different approach and recruit a Research Intern as he / she might move into this role full time post internship.   Some of the unique things we are currently working on: -"Super Bent" trials (as we are hoping to re-grass our greens in the near future) -Crabgrass control on bentgrass using compaction -Crabgrass control on roughs and native using iron programs -Fraze mowing to eliminate seed banks -Bluemuda varieties for summer range tee option -Using unique programs such as peroxide and strict ferrous sulfate for bent health -Clipping yields -Demo new equipment / tools for research (light attacking fungi i.e.) -Many  others ... I am looking for a student whether in school or graduating, who may want to continue their career in golf or the turf world who has an admiration for how turfgrass functions, survival, and recovery.  He / she will meet with the Director of Grounds frequently as this role will require detailed and frequent data collection.  Effective communication will be necessary as we tend to adapt our trials on the fly.

Meadow Brook Club is seeking a motivated individual to fill or summer internship position for 2025.  Meadow Brook located in Jericho, NY and is a golf only club.  Originally incorporated in 1881 on a different site, the current site opened in 1955.  Originally designed by Dick Wilson, the club was renovated by Joe Lee in 1967, and again by Brian Silva in 2016.  The 2016 renovation included 5 USGA greens, 9 holes of new tees, all bunkers renovated using Better Billy Bunker technology, a new short game facility and driving range target greens.  The current course has 7 MGA rated tee combinations raging from 5,607  yards to 7,475 yards.  The property is 270 acres.  Bent/ Poa greens, tees and fairways.  Roughs are a mix f Blue/Rye/Fescue.  31 Acres Native Fescue rough.  Rain Bird Irrigation system, 13,500 rounds per year.  From 1987 to 2002 Meadow Brook hosted an official PGA TOUR Champions event.  The club has hosted all local Majors including the Met OPEN, (hosting again in 2025) Met Amateur, The Ike, Met PGA, LIPGA, and the Long Island Amateur.

Glenwild is an active seasonal club with a six-month golf season and 325 members. Glenwild is a Golf Digest top 200 golf club and is ranked Golf Digest #1 golf course in the state. Our 2025 interns will collaborate with the management team daily while being exposed to all aspects of turf grass management practices. Glenwild is currently in the planning process of a tee, irrigation, bunker and cart path renovation led by Tim Jackson with Jackson Kahn Design. With a short season growing, golf and tournament season, 10-12 hours of overtime weekly will be utilized throughout the Internship. Tim Jackson  of Jackson Kahn along with Brent Harvey with Irrigation Pros is working on a Master Plan which will include a complete irrigation, bunker and cart path renovation plan with an anticipated starting date in Fall of 2026.  Educational Requirements: Must be enrolled in a two-year or four-year turf program or related field. Experience Requirements: Prior golf course experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to help the right candidate start their career in the industry even with no prior experience. Offering both a 3 and or 6-month Internship experience. Interns should have a willingness to learn and be able to thrive and grow in a fast-paced work environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assisting with the oversight of the overall maintenance practices of the golf course. Ensuring proper mixing, handling and application of chemicals and fertilizers. Training and ensuring proper use and maintenance of equipment. Opportunity to lead, direct and train employees in small projects. Exposure to Irrigation Practices, Theories and Repairs along with installing of Irrigation Well pumping system. Overview of Master Plan project. Opportunity to learn and ask questions regarding all golf operations. Secession is a walking only, 18 hole, links style golf course designed by Bruce Devlin. It is surrounded by tidal marshland and is located in the “low country” on Gibbs Island; just across the bridge from Beaufort, South Carolina. It is also located with-in one hours travel time from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. Champion bermudagrass greens, 419 bermudagrass fairways and tees, and the course is overseeded with ryegrass from November through April (excluding the greens).
