Identifying, evaluating, and recommending corrective action for agronomic problem areas, including funguses, pests, and drainage issues. Collect field data for water management programs. Direct Hand watering crews. Communicate with Superintendent and Senior Assistant to organize equipment in mornings prior to staff arrival.  Maintain clean and organized shop/yard.  Collect daily metrics on greens speeds, clipping volumes, moisture, firmness, and tissue testing.  Consult with superintendent and Senior assistant daily to plan and supervise crew member tasks and maintenance of golf course.  Instruct crew members on proper equipment operation. Manage crew members during projects. Inspect irrigation systems, identify issues, and implement corrective action. Conduct and oversee fertilizer and chemical applications. Assist with safety programs, training, and record keeping Understanding of and ability to utilize golf course software applications such as EZLocator, Task Tracker, TDR Fieldscout, Playbooks Coverage, Drones, and camera work.

The project will include restoring 24,000 sq ft of greens surfaces, XGD drainage install in all greens, new irrigation loops around all greens and approaches, complete bunker rebuild using Better Billy Bunker liner, tee construction, fairway expansions and cart path work.   Victoria National Golf Club is seeking an Assistant in Training (AIT) to join our management team for 2025. We are an 18 hole private club with a primarily national membership. Designed by Tom Fazio the course has continuously been ranked in multiple top 100 lists since inception and is currently ranked number one in Indiana. Located in the southwest corner of the state, it’s the only cool-season facility in the region. Greens, tees, and fairways are grassed with L-93 Bentgrass. Our rough is primarily Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass. Dew paths and intermediates are Perennial Ryegrass and HGT Bluegrass. Our turf types combined with our climate provide a unique opportunity to learn elite course presentation in an extremely challenging environment. We are fortunate to have ownership that understands what is needed to maintain a course of our caliber. We are closed annually from late November to early April to perform all turf cultivation practices as well as architectural and construction updates. Position Overview The AIT will work directly with Assistant Superintendents, Superintendent, and the Director of Agronomy, and is considered a key member of the management team. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all agronomic practices, construction projects, scheduling of staff, as well as long and short term planning. Shooting Star, a Golf Digest Top 100 Tom Fazio designed 18-hole private facility, opened for play in 2009. The course is located at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Ski Resort, one mile from Grand Teton National Park, and boasts one of the most breathtaking mountain backdrops in the world. The golf season is Mid-May through Mid-October with an elite 15 KM Nordic/Cross-Country ski course maintained from December through April.  The Assistant-in-Training (A.I.T) at Shooting Star will be a hands-on and active position involved in all aspects of Golf Course Maintenance. A.I.T, is a 12-month position, working directly under the Assistant Superintendents and Golf Course Manager. World class bentgrass is maintained on all greens, tees, approaches, and fairways. Kentucky bluegrass roughs, and 126 acres of fine fescue native cover the remaining surfaces of the 256-acre facility. Examples of daily roles to be performed are chemical/fertilizer mixing & applications, daily mowing, hand watering, irrigation repairs, drainage/course improvement projects, vegetation management, tractor/implement work, course set-up, equipment maintenance, snow removal, grooming of Nordic/Cross-Country Ski Course, management of small crews and more. The Bob O’Link Golf Club Agronomy Team is seeking interested candidates for our Assistant-In-Training position. This is intended to be a full time position and work is available as early as March 1st, 2025.   Located one mile from the shores of Lake Michigan, Bob O’Link Golf is over a century old that was originally designed by Donald Ross in 1916 and then re-designed by Colt & Alison in 1924. The 1924 design served as the template for the 2016 Centennial Initiative which was a full golf course restoration with Jim Urbina which was a great success.    In 2023, the Club completed work on a brand new, state of the art Agronomy Center. It now is the basis for our operation of up to 25 employees and over $2 million worth of equipment. It has been a huge asset to our operation and our ability to implement new technology.   The Assistant-in-Training will work with all members of the Agronomy team with daily direct communication with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents. Training will be provided to new employees of all skill levels with all new jobs. That being said, at least one season of previous Golf Course experience is preferred but not required. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent-In-Training (AIT) is an entry level position for individuals seeking management careers in golf course maintenance. The position is designed to provide the individual with experience and training directed specifically towards preparing them for promotion to an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent position. The AIT performs a broad range of maintenance activities including but not limited to equipment operation, agronomic product applications, special projects, limited supervision, and administrative and record keeping duties. KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, APTITUDE AND OTHER TRAITS: Complete knowledge of chemical application equipment Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of the following types of equipment: Mechanically pressurized spray equipment; hand-operated spray equipment; hand-operated rotary spreaders; hand-operated drop spreaders; and utility tractors. Knowledge of the rules of golf and/or ability to play golf is desirable. Moon Brook Country Club is a private club located in Western New York. MBCC is a Willie Park Jr. design known for its challenging greens and beautiful scenery. The club has hosted three New York State Amateurs and many regional qualifying events. MBCC has recently adopted a Master Plan developed by Raymond Hearn. As an assistant superintendent you will participate in the implementation of the master plan. You will be responsible for chemical and fertilizer applications. You will gain experience managing the crew and help with the budgeting process. You will take part in course setup and any other maintenance practices as necessary.

Founded in 2000, Eagle Point Golf Club was designed by architect, Tom Fazio.  Eagle Point features an 18 hole layout, as well as a 9 hole Par 3 course. Eagle Point consistently ranks as one of the top golf courses in the country, and in 2017 hosted the PGA Tour's Wells Fargo Championship. We are currently in search of an Assistant-In-Training to join our talented team here at Eagle Point.  The position is designed to focus on the various skills needed to promote a firm and fast experience in the Coastal South. Resources are provided by the Club to support our goals. During the Summer of 2017, the greens were converted to Champion G-12 with TifGrand collars. The fairways, tees, and rough consist of TifSport Bermudagrass.  Our motivated membership allows for significant capital projects.  Recent projects include a state of the art pumphouse and Watertronics pump station, and total reconstruction of our Par 3 course utilizing TifEagle greens and Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass.  Future projects are imminent as we navigate the Master Planning process. We take great pride in mentoring the future leaders of the industry. We work with individuals to help create road maps for future industry successes.

About Kenwood: Kenwood Country Club is a private 36-hole facility located in Cincinnati, Ohio designed by William Diddel in 1930. In 2019 the Kendale Course underwent a renovation, which updated the golf course for today’s technology and restored the original design intentions. Over the last several years our Club established itself as the premier private, and family-oriented country club in the Cincinnati area, and one of the top clubs in the Midwest. Kenwood has made a large commitment and investment in the Course & Grounds operations as the grounds compound underwent renovations; providing a new building for management offices, new break room and locker rooms, a new maintenance building housing the equipment maintenance operations, and the purchasing of a brand new fleet of John Deere equipment.  In the fall of 2023, the Kendale Course completed the 2nd phase of the renovation: updating the greens to USGA specifications with precision air drainage system and new 007XL bentgrass. Kenwood is currently in the process of hiring an architect to create a master plan of both golf courses and practice facilities.
