Identifying, evaluating, and recommending corrective action for agronomic problem areas, including funguses, pests, and drainage issues. Collect field data for water management programs. Direct Hand watering crews. Communicate with Superintendent and Senior Assistant to organize equipment in mornings prior to staff arrival.  Maintain clean and organized shop/yard.  Collect daily metrics on greens speeds, clipping volumes, moisture, firmness, and tissue testing.  Consult with superintendent and Senior assistant daily to plan and supervise crew member tasks and maintenance of golf course.  Instruct crew members on proper equipment operation. Manage crew members during projects. Inspect irrigation systems, identify issues, and implement corrective action. Conduct and oversee fertilizer and chemical applications. Assist with safety programs, training, and record keeping Understanding of and ability to utilize golf course software applications such as EZLocator, Task Tracker, TDR Fieldscout, Playbooks Coverage, Drones, and camera work.

About Kenwood: Kenwood Country Club is a private 36-hole facility located in Cincinnati, Ohio designed by William Diddel in 1930. In 2019 the Kendale Course underwent a renovation, which updated the golf course for today’s technology and restored the original design intentions. Over the last several years our Club established itself as the premier private, and family-oriented country club in the Cincinnati area, and one of the top clubs in the Midwest. Kenwood has made a large commitment and investment in the Course & Grounds operations as the grounds compound underwent renovations; providing a new building for management offices, new break room and locker rooms, a new maintenance building housing the equipment maintenance operations, and the purchasing of a brand new fleet of John Deere equipment.  In the fall of 2023, the Kendale Course completed the 2nd phase of the renovation: updating the greens to USGA specifications with precision air drainage system and new 007XL bentgrass. Kenwood is currently in the process of hiring an architect to create a master plan of both golf courses and practice facilities.

AITs will also train with and work alongside each of our full-time staff members to gain practical hands-on experience in all areas of course maintenance. AITs can expect to learn and take part in disease scouting, moisture management and a variety of other tasks including course set-up, bunker maintenance, and mowing. The candidate can expect to gain experience in operating mowers and other heavy machinery (tractors, backhoes, aerifiers etc.) to improve an overall skill set needed for the next step in one's career. Description Victoria National Golf Club is seeking an Assistant in Training (AIT) to join our management team for 2025. We are an 18 hole private club with a primarily national membership. Designed by Tom Fazio the course has continuously been ranked in multiple top 100 lists since inception and is currently ranked number one in Indiana. Located in the southwest corner of the state, it’s the only cool-season facility in the region. Greens, tees, and fairways are grassed with L-93 Bentgrass. Our rough is primarily Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass. Dew paths and intermediates are Perennial Ryegrass and HGT Bluegrass. Our turf types combined with our climate provide a unique opportunity to learn elite course presentation in an extremely challenging environment. We are fortunate to have ownership that understands what is needed to maintain a course of our caliber. We are closed annually from late November to early April to perform all turf cultivation practices as well as architectural and construction updates. Position Overview The AIT will work directly with Assistant Superintendents, Superintendent, and the Director of Agronomy, and is considered a key member of the management team. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:  Responsibilities: Landscape Maintenance: Mowing, edging, and fertilizing the golf course turf. Pruning trees, shrubs, and other landscaping elements. Planting and maintaining flowers, bushes, and other ornamental plants. Irrigation System Management: Monitor and operate the golf course's irrigation system. Perform routine checks and repairs to ensure optimal functioning. Adjust irrigation schedules based on weather conditions. Bunker Maintenance: Rake and maintain sand bunkers on the golf course. Ensure bunkers are consistently presented in excellent playing condition. Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and utility vehicles. Report any equipment malfunctions and perform routine maintenance. Pest and Weed Control: Implement pest and weed control measures as needed. Keep the golf course free from invasive plants and pests. Course Setup: Assist with the setup of the golf course for daily play and special events. Collaborate with other staff to ensure all areas are prepared to the highest standards. Management Experience:  Lead small crews and projects. Learn management and grounds operations. Gain a better understanding of “back end” operations. Qualifications: Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or related fields is preferred. Knowledge of turf management and irrigation systems is a plus. Caves Valley Golf Club is an 18-hole, private golf only facility located in the rolling hills of Baltimore County, a 15 minute trip to the city.
