Assistant Superintendent

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Grounds. Under their supervision, the Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course; supervises the maintenance and repair of the irrigation system; and performs related work as required. The Assistant Superintendent will serve in the Director's capacity during their absence. High attention to detail, organization and able to work in a fast paced work environment is a must.
Educational Requirements
Certificate/Degree from accredited turf, agronomy, or horticulture program is preferred but not required.
Experience Requirements
Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course greens, tees, and fairways; seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; Plant protectants and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction
Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; to prepare clear and concise reports; and to maintain effective employee and public relations.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Possess or ability to obtain state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
