Turf Equipment Technician
WEGC is a private 27-hole facility located in Naperville, Illinois, where the Head Mechanic will be responsible for all facets of the ground’s operation related to equipment. The club has recently hosted (2) Illinois Open’s, a Korn Ferry Qualifier, MAC Championship, and last year’s Women’s Western Amateur with plans for hosting more tournaments in the future. The club has recently invested in the position by installing a second golf lift, new golf cart, and trained to have a part time assistant mechanic in place that assists full time in the winter and every afternoon during the week. Educational Requirements
High school diploma or (GED)
Technical School Certification in the Golf Course Profession.
Experience Requirements
Previous experience as a golf course mechanic.
Special Requirements
• Must be able to perform daily mower adjustments, and prioritize repairs that need to be made.
• A solid knowledge of every aspect of reel grinding.
• Ability to replace rotary blades on mowers.
• Ability to connect implements to tractors.
• Basic welding and light metal fabrication.
• Ability to perform parts ordering, and record keeping pertaining to preventative maintenance.
• Basic computer knowledge of word and excel.
• Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions when needed outside.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance.
• Ability to communicate both in English and Spanish a plus.
• Service and repair small gas and diesel engines, and replace hydraulic hoses.
• Knowledge of electrical systems
• Must have strong work ethic, self-starter and positive attitude.
• Knowledge of aerators.
• Small Equipment repair.
