Position Guidelines

 

Position Title: Equipment Manager

 

Position Summary

 

To ensure proper maintenance and operation of equipment. Implementation and follow through of up-to-date preventative maintenance program. Ensure that all golf course equipment is safe and operational.

 

 

Essential Functions of the Position

 

1.  Preventative Maintenance

            a)     Check all fluid levels, belts, hoses, air pressure, and leakage. Adjust as necessary.

            b)     Change oil, oil filters, air filters as scheduled in PM program.

            c)     Lubricate all grease fittings for all equipment.

            d)     Monitor hour meters for equipment.

            e)     Responsible for safety inspections by checking brakes, clutches, steering, and tire wear.

 

2.  Repairs

            a)   Ability to identify and replace all worn parts.

            b)   Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in all equipment.

            c)   Ability to repair any damages resulting from use of equipment on golf course.

 

3.  Reel and Blade Maintenance

            a)   Ability to set and adjust mowing heights.

            b)   Ability to adjust reels to correct poor quality cut.

            d)   Ability to grind reels and bedknife.

 

4.  Cleaning Shop and Equipment

            a)    Ensure safe working conditions through daily shop cleanup

            b)   Responsible for order and cleanliness of workshop

            c)    Prolong life expectance of equipment by cleaning and maintaining

     e)    Maintain proper working order of the ESD equipment washing station and schedule all repairs.

 

5.  Communication

      a)  Ability to speak and read English

      b)  Ability to effectively convey to the Superintendent what is wrong with a piece of equipment and what needs to be done to repair it.

 

6.  Perform other golf course related duties as assigned or requested by supervisors/managers.

 

 

 

Education, Experience and Skills Required

 

·  H.S. Degree or GED.

·  3 yrs minimum mechanical experience with small engines and mowing equipment.

·  Mechanics Certification, diesel experience, reel/bedknife grinding experience.

·  Background in golf course maintenance.

 

 

Schedule of Hours Worked

 

Must be available to work

·        Monday through Friday

·        Scheduled Saturdays and Sundays as assigned by supervisor

·        Scheduled holidays as assigned by supervisor

·        Overtime

 

Tools, Machines and/or Equipment Used

 

Mowers: i.e. small, large, walkbehind, rider, rotary, reel, gang mowers, tractors, weed eaters, edgers, flymow, chainsaws, etc.
