Job Description

Irrigation Technician

 

Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent, Director of Golf Course Maintenance & Grounds

FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

 

Job Tasks/Duties

·         Designs, implements, and maintains mechanical and electrical components of complex irrigation systems, working with both PVC and HDPE pipe.

·         Installs and maintains underground pipe.

·         Installs and maintains drainage systems.

·         Operates trench digger and crawler-type tractor.

·         Assists Golf Course Superintendent with preventative maintenance of designated systems, including edging of irrigation and drainage systems.

·         Identify and repair leaks, clogs, and other system malfunctions promptly.

·         Replace or adjust sprinkler heads as needed to ensure even coverage and prevent dry or wet spots.

·         Assists Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining parts inventory.

·         Assists Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining pumphouse organization and cleanliness.

·         Makes all irrigation orders after Golf Course Superintendent’s approval.

·         Repairs irrigation system defects.

·         Repairs drainage system defects.

·         Assisting with cleanup and pumping of water after large storms/hurricanes.

·         Performs preventative and curative maintenance on all equipment associated with irrigation and drainage.

·         Maintains complete records on all equipment maintenance associated with irrigation.

·         Trains and supervises staff assigned to irrigation responsibilities.

·         Maintains inventory of parts needed for irrigation equipment.

·         Irrigates all grounds as needed using CirrusPro software.

·         Performs all other duties as required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Essential Requirements & Qualifications

·         Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.

·         Three years’ work experience in golf course maintenance operation.

·         Experience and knowledge of installing and maintaining PVC and HDPE irrigation systems

·         Continuing education classes related to golf course maintenance.

 Physical Demands and Work Environment

·         This position includes (long periods of) climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling and repetitive motions.

·         Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

·         Must be able to navigate through rough and uneven terrain.

·         Must have the ability to work in hot and muggy conditions on a continuous basis.

·         Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.

·         Must be physically able to do assigned work as outlined above. 

·         Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
