2nd Assistant Superintendent

The 2nd Assistant/Foreman will work with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant to ensure the golf course is maintained at the highest level of quality at all times. Experience in the maintenance and repair of equipment is a huge plus. Some computer skills are desirable. In addition to the golf course, the grounds staff is also responsible for all maintenance activities for the club house and pool grounds, 4 clay tennis courts, 4 platform tennis/pickle courts and the parking lots. This individual must be capable of performing all grounds maintenance duties.2nd Assistant/Foreman  would typically work Monday thru Friday and 1 weekend day a week during the golf season which begins in April and ends in November. In-season workload typically requires 2nd Assistant to be on property 45-55 hours/week. A few weeks each year, Assistant will be required to work 7 days per week (aeration, special tournaments, etc.). Winter work will be on an as needed basis, typically 30 to 35 hours per week including on call for snow removal.

Founded in 1897, The North Andover Country Club is located along Lake Cochichewick. The club’s amenities include a nine-hole Donald Ross golf course, 4 clay tennis courts, 4 platform/Pickle tennis courts, pool facilities, and a full-service year around restaurant and function facilities. With a demanding membership, the grounds department strives to provide the best conditions possible on a consistent basis.

Educational Requirements

There are no education requirements, however would like a candidate who would like to move up in the profession.  Ideally candidate would  be working towards some sort of education in the field - Associates of Science, two-year certificate in Turf Management, Winter School programs or other certification programs in Agronomy or related to Golf Course Management, including technical high schools programs (students should apply). Candidates with solid experience in the field are urged to apply.  

Experience Requirements

A minimum of two years golf course experience, at least one of which was year around.  Applicant must be willing to work long hours during our peak golf season, which runs from April 15 through November 15. 

Special Requirements

Dependablity, a easygoing and cheerful disposition and a strong work ethic is more important to the team than strong experience or education.  

• Must possess a Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator’s License or have the ability to obtain one ASAP (within 60 days of employment)
