Assistant Superintendent

Full-time

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent in responsible for day-to-day operations, applications, and reports directly to the golf course superintendent.   A self motivating individual, team leader, being able to diagnose turf problems, and some mechanical knowledge is necessary to be an integral part of the Agronomy team.  The assistant superintendent may serve in the superintendent's capacity during their absence.

 

  • Warm season grass experience a plus.
  • Participate in the daily monitoring of putting greens using POGO.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator, 90 days to attain license in or out of state.
  • Able to attain Florida golf course BMP certification.
  • Knowledge of basic math, spray equipment calibration, safety oriented
  • Plan, organize, manage and supervise daily tasks implemented by the superintendent.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways and greens; planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees;  characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners;  herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; irrigation control system setup, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; prepare clear and concise reports; maintain effective employee and public relations;  being able to communicate to your team and satisfying member requirements.
  • Work is primarily outdoors with some indoor exposure.  Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals, and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.
  • Create a positive, attentive professional service environment in all golf departments.
  • Conduct daily facility walk through and PPE requirements are being followed to ensure safety requirements are being followed for the safety of employees and members.

Educational Requirements

 - degree preferred but not necessary if the individual has substantial experience.

Experience Requirements

Must have  comparative market, high end club experience.  

Special Requirements

Must possess or obtain valid Fl pesticide license within 6 months

Must obtain Fl Best Management Practices certification within 6 months

Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not mandatory
