Apply today for the open position of Assistant Superintendent position at St. Joseph Country Club. In 2025 and 2026 SJCC will host a Division II women’s and men’s regional golf championship. A bid for the 2027 Division II National championship is being made as well.
Our owner Mr. Steven Craig has made and continues to make the commitment to be one of the top clubs in the state and region. SJCC celebrated its 125th year in 2023 and hosted the men’s Missouri Amateur in June 2024. We are currently finishing the grow in of a 19th hole while other on course renovations are being planned for late 2024/2025.
The position is a hands-on management position working with the Keeper of the Greens, Assistant Superintendent (2) and Mechanic in all aspects of the operation. The Assistant Superintendent will assign, participate, supervise, and follow up on the daily maintenance of the golf course, practice facility, clubhouse landscapes. He/she will develop knowledge and skills in staffing, renovation, irrigation with PVC/HDPE, budgeting etc. while becoming a well-prepared leader to take the next step in their career. Educational Requirements
- Preferred is either a two or four-year degree/certificate in a turf related field.
Experience Requirements
- Previous work experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is preferred.
- Preferred is either a two or four-year degree/certificate in a turf related field.
- Ability to perform any task needed to meet course standards.
- Highly motivated with strong work ethic and a positive can-do spirit.
- Attention to detail, ability to lead, identify and assign or complete tasks.
- Good oral and written communication skills with members and staff.
- Must be able to multitask while adapting and changing to weather, staffing or seasonal needs.
- Recognize issues and use a commonsense approach to solve problems.
- Knowledge of fusing HDPE irrigation along with operating a 2 wire system.
