Director of Agronomy
The Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, California is looking for a new Director of Agronomy (DOA). The Director of Agronomy will oversee all aspects of the agronomic practices, golf course maintenance, golf course equipment, and the management of common grounds and landscaping for the Club's amenities. This role ensures that the golf course maintenance operations align with the Club's operational and business plan strategies

Originally a family home and cherry orchard since the mid-1800s, the 500-acre F. Sydney Jones ranch, then the world’s largest cherry orchard, was purchased by a group of families in the spring of 1949. On March 6, 1950, the first General Membership meeting was held. By summer 1950, the cherry orchard was transformed into a "family playground," attracting hundreds of visitors each weekend. Although the mansion is no longer a family residence, Green Valley Country Club has become a cherished home for many families. Here, friends and family continue to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the golf course, and various amenities, creating lasting memories in the Valley.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, Plant Science or related field is preferred.
Candidates with Associates degree from a reputable and intensive two-year turfgrass managemnet program will be considered as well.
Additional education and training in mechanical maintenance, surveying and ecology are desirable
A GCSAA Certified Golf Course Superintendent is preferred but these credentials are not mandatory.
Experience Requirements
Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Director of Agronomy at comparable facilities to Green Valley Country Club.
Must possess a valid Drivers License
Must have or be able to obtain the proper licensing and pesticide applicators certification from the State of California that meets all of requirements of the State
