Director of Agronomy

Bayou DeSiard Country Club is a private country club located in Monroe, La.  The club opened in the summer of 1948 and was designed by Golden Age architect, Perry Maxwell (R.Prichard/T.Rae ‘88,’09).  This parkland style course plays just over 7,000 yards from the championship tees and sits on 140 acres of 419 Bermuda grass fairways and mini-verde putting surfaces.  The course plays along 1 mile of the banks of Bayou DeSiard.  This beautiful waterway is one of the many attractions that sets this course apart. Bayou DeSiard Country Club has a strong membership of over 900 members. (19,000 rounds in 2023)

Overview
The DoA will be responsible for the successful operation of the Golf Course Maintenance Department to include Clubhouse Grounds and will report to the Director of Golf. 

Experience Required
The DoA will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the golf course plan, budget, employee retention, hiring, training, record keeping, cultural practices, communication with membership and striving each day to make the club better. The course features Mini-Verde greens and Tifway 419 Bermuda grass. 
    
 Requirements
:
•    3-5 years golf course supervisory experience, as a Superintendent/Sr. Asst. Superintendent 

•    Passion for managing turf, and all other facets of the job
•    Active membership in GCSAA preferred
•    2-4 year turfgrass degree 

•    Experience in Bermuda, Mini-Verde preferred
•    Ability & desire to motivate employees to reach the next level of conditions and experience, to communicate with team as well as members and guests. 
•    Maintain consistent, healthy, fast and firm playing conditions
•    Ability to process and respond to member questions and concerns
•    Strong Leader, Highly Motivated, Eye for Detail, Strong Work Ethic

•    Valid La Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain in 60 days
•    Ability to build a team by recruiting, mentoring, and motivating.  

•    Experience at a Private Club is preferred.

 Essential Responsibilities
•    Maintain all club facilities (18 hole golf course, practice areas, all club grounds)
•    Ensures the maintenance of all grounds and course maintenance equipment.
•    Hire and manage a staff, including assistants, mechanic, and seasonal employees
•    Manages department inventory and responsible for department purchasing including equipment.
•    Records maintenance on the course & chemical application records.
•    Assists with the development of a million dollar maintenance budget and takes corrective action as needed to ensure budget goals are met.
•    Establishes short and long-range plans for the golf course.
•    Ensures that chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled substances are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
•    Makes recommendations for capital improvements.
•    Give input on Green Committee agenda and prepare notes for monthly meetings
•    Must be a team player with all departments of the club
•    Must have great member relationship skills

Salary Base
•    $105,000+ (Commensurate with experience)
