Golf Course Superintendent
Located in South Los Angeles County, La Mirada Golf Course features rolling fairways with several blind target shots into well-bunkered and well-tended greens. La Mirada Golf Course provides a fun and challenging experience for all levels of golfers, at an affordable price. Our night-lighted, two-tiered driving range makes this Southern California course a great practice facility as well to tune-up any golfer. La Mirada was named the Los Angeles County “Course of the Year” six different times, including 2010, and was awarded “Top 10 Golf Courses to Play” by L.A. Magazine and “Best Places to Play” by Golf Digest in 2009.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the golf course in proper playing condition according to Company standards
- Ability and confidence to communicate challenges/issues quickly and accurately with Maintenance Team, General Manager, and Regional Support Team.
- Implement the approved maintenance plan and adhere to the budget
- Direct and supervise the maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water, roughs, maintenance shop and grounds, cart maintenance, and clubhouse grounds
- Create and support a high-performance team while maintaining a positive, safe, and enjoyable work environment
- Recruit, train, develop, and manage staff
- Identify and address safety issues immediately
- Conduct monthly safety meeting/training with maintenance staff
- Maintain accurate records to track labor costs, maintenance expenses, projects, equipment repair, safety, and fertilizer, chemical, and pest control practices within city, state and federal guidelines
- Identify, implement, and approve capital improvements
Educational Requirements
- 3-5 years as a Superintendent or First Assistant
- Turf Certificate from accredited institution preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- Pesticide Applicator License QAL
- Highly motivated individual with attention to detail
- Rainbird irrigation experience
- Strong communication skills
- Computer skills with Word, Excel, Outlook or ability to learn
- Spanish speaking a plus
