Seasonal Intern
Opened in 2010, The Prairie Club is a golf resort in the sandhills region of Nebraska home to three nationally recognized golf courses. The Tom Lehman designed Dunes Course is ranked by Golf Magazine as the 94nd best course in United States, and the 22nd best public course. The Pines Course, designed by Graham Marsh, was recognized by Golf Digest in 2023 as the 99th best public course in America. The Horse Course, designed by Gil Hanse and Geoff Shackelford, is on Golf Digest’s list of Most Fun Courses You Can Play.
The Prairie Club offers many unique aspects to learn from. With courses rotating between member and public play on a daily basis, interns can expect to see both aspects and the relation to golf course maintenance. The scale and size of the property is matched by very few golf courses in the world. Environmental challenges and wild swings in weather can lead to fun and interesting problems to solve. Interns will be involved in all aspects of maintenance on both courses. The agronomy team will work with the intern to help them achieve any and all of their set learning goals. In addition to daily maintenance, previous interns have been able to gain experience with spraying, hand watering, construction projects, and crew leadership. At the end of the summer, interns will get the opportunity to be a course superintendent for a week with control over scheduling, job assignments, and decision making.
