2nd Assistant Superintendent

Full-time

The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Senior Assistant Superintendent in all aspects of golf course management.

Expectations:

  • Set a positive example for all staff members
    • Driving and parking locations
    • Arrival and departure time for each day
    • Picking up trash or other debris
    • Show/enforce attention to detail
    • Proper and safe equipment operation
    • Keep workspace clean and orderly
      • Cart
      • Locker/Closet
      • Shop
    • MCC provided uniform be worn and cleanly
      • Shirt always tucked in
  • Manage a weekend crew. Plan for the day and be capable of adjusting the schedule as needed.
    • Be available for hand watering and monitoring the work of other staff members on your weekend crew.
    • Set up irrigation schedule for the evening.
  • Assist the team in any way to make the operation more efficient
  • Maintain positive relationships with team members

Duties:                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

  • Course Setup
  • Irrigation Scheduling/Operation/Repair of a Rainbird system
  • Water management which focuses on hand watering green surfaces and surrounds
  • Scouting and Fertilizer/Plant protectant applications
    • Proper calibration of sprayers and fertilization equipment
    • Record keeping
  • Crew management
    • Daily planning and scheduling
    • Instructing and training current/new employees on proper golf course maintenance techniques and job responsibilities.
  • Equipment Operation
  • Tournament Preparation
  • Small golf course improvement projects

Educational Requirements

  • A 2- or 4-year turf related degree/certificate. Spring graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants without a turf degree/certificate are encouraged to apply as well but are required to have extensive knowledge of the golf course maintenance operation.

Experience Requirements

  • Previous spray experience desired but not necessary.
    • Must be willing to obtain a Wisconsin Pesticide Applicators License shortly after being hired (paid for by the club).
  • Spanish speaking desired but not necessary.

Job Benefits

  • Salary: $20 - 25 +/hour DOE plus 1.5x overtime pay (Up to 300 hours of OT)
