Golf Course Superintendent
Mariner Sands Country Club is seeking a professional Golf Course Superintendent to join our growing team. Located in Stuart, Florida, Mariner Sands is a member-owned golf and country club community. Originally founded in 1979, Mariner Sands features 36 holes of championship golf, tennis, fitness, spa, swimming pool, bocce courts, croquet courts, driving range and short game area and a brand-new under-construction Clubhouse, scheduled to open in 2025. The Gold Course was renovated in 2020 and redesigned by Kipp Schulties. The Blue Course was renovated in 2022 and redesigned by Ron Garl. A completely redesigned Short Game Practice Area is currently under construction and scheduled to open in late 2024.
Golf Course Maintenance Highlights:
· 36-hole facility with Driving Range, Short Game Practice Area and Croquet Courts
· Maintenance Staff: 40 Full Time, 2 Part Time, 6 Internationals during season
· Maintenance Budget: Operating $4.7 million
· Equipment: TORO (1/2 leased, 1/2 purchased)
· Types of grass: Tif-Eagle Greens, Celebration tees and fairways, 419 Rough. Driving Range Tee is Platinum Paspalum
· Irrigation system: TORO. New Watertronics Pump stations replaced in 2023 and 2024
The Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with and report directly to the Director of Agronomy. The chosen individual will be responsible for the daily operations of one, 18-hole golf course and practice facility. This includes scheduling of crew members and tasks to ensure the best possible playing conditions during season as well as proper agronomic methods and procedures during our summer closure.
Educational Requirements
2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture or Plant Science
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent or 1 year as a Superintendent with supervisory experience in a club or golf course setting
· Requires advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass
· Requires a high-degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of identifying problems, decision-making and problem-solving
· Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
· Must possess a Florida Pesticide Applicators License or be able to obtain in 60 days
· Must possess a Florida Best Management Practices certification or be able to obtain in 60 days
· Must have a valid Driver’s License
· Must have an eye for details
· Must be a team player with a positive attitude
· Bilingual (English – Spanish) would be great, but not required
