Assistant Superintendent

Full-time

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising the maintenance of the golf course and activities of the employees. This includes monitoring job performance and daily playing conditions for quality standards, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the maintenance facility (to include equipment, materials, and tools), participating in agronomic operations, and keeping accurate and timely records of all business activities.

Indian Spring Country Club is a 36 hole facility with an East & West Course. We are looking to hire 2 Assistant Superintendents who will help the Superintendent with the daily operation. Each Assistant will be assigned a course to help the Superintendent with the daily operation. 

 

Responsibilities:

Participate in the planning and supervision of routine maintenance activities to include tasks such as mowing greens, changing cups, course set up, raking bunker, mowing fairways, tees and rough.

Plan and participate in the applications of fertilizers and plant protectants.

Participate in the daily assignment of equipment to employees and inspect for proper use, cleaning, and storage to assigned parking.

Coordinate with mechanics to ensure preventative maintenance, repairs, and readiness of equipment fleet.

Participate in the daily monitoring of putting greens.

Observe and evaluate playing conditions (moisture, mowing quality, bunker raking, course set up) to take corrective action or report to Superintendent.

Maintain effective employee and public relations.

Assist in the monitoring of adherence to the uniform policy and the proper use of personal protective equipment.

Assist the Superintendent in keeping records of maintenance activities, including but not limited to job tracking, and fertilizer and plant protectant applications as required by law.

Assist in the operation of the irrigation system by using Toro Lynx Control System and pump station operation, field observations and scouting for proper moisture, sprinkler adjustments and repairs.

Follow and comply with company and departmental safety policies to ensure a safe work environment.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Exposed to high temperatures and inclement weather.

Required to work weekends and holidays.

Required to stand for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).

Can lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Limited exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

 

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of golf course maintenance experience in a leadership role to include golf turf, fertilization and pest control, and irrigation oversight.
  • Associates Degree in turf management or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills

Experience Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a team player with a great attitude and strong work ethic. A minimum 2-year turf certificate in turf grass management from a recognized college or university or 2 years of golf course experience is required. The candidate will be required to obtain a State of Florida Pesticide License within 90 days of employment.
