Seasonal Intern

Interlachen Country Club is now accepting internship applications for the 2025 season! We’re coming off a very successful reopening of the recent renovation project led by Andrew Green and we, as a team, are thrilled to continue to develop playing conditions to our members that are unmatched. Come join our team as we are actively learning every day opportunities to streamline maintenance, improve playability throughout the grounds post renovation, and capture the details that continue to set Interlachen Country Club as one of the top courses in the nation. 

Internships will include daily course and grounds maintenance of the newly restored golf course, while understanding the importance of the many agronomical practices we engage in on a daily basis. Educational opportunities will be tailored to each person’s goals and experience, creating a truly personalized and memorable learning opportunity. 

Unique to Interlachen, our interns across multiple departments participate in “Future Leaders” programming, relevant topics taught by the best within the club management industry. We’ve seen firsthand how these cross department relationships started at ICC Future Leaders have proven invaluable later in careers both within the gates of Interlachen and throughout the nation. We’ll help develop your network within the industry! 

The goal of our internship program is to challenge each intern to grow both as a person and as a professional. Upon completion of the internship program, interns will be prepared and empowered to advance to the next step in their career. Students who have previously completed the internship program have gone on to hold top tier positions throughout the country, as well as management positions within our own team. The most successful candidates will be motivated, curious self-starters looking to grow in the golf course and grounds industry.

What you will do: 

• Golf Course Maintenance 

  •  Implement and execute daily maintenance schedules on a championship level course.

  • Implement and execute daily maintenance schedule on championship level course

  • Golf Course Set Up – creating unique layout on a daily basis according to golf course conditions

  • Create practices necessary to maintain championship conditions

  • Utilize data collection and analysis for precision turfgrass management including drone thermal imaging

  • Lead and motivate small crews and projects 

• Pesticide Application

  • Obtain MN Pesticide Application License 

  • Calibrate fertilizer spreader and sprayer 

  • Apply pesticides: walking boom and riding sprayer (GeoLink Sprayer with auto steer)

  • Fertilizer application: walking spreader and tractor spreader

  • Complete tasks and provide thorough record keeping 

• Irrigation System and Repair

  • Basic controller operation: Toro Lynx

  • Satellite operation: Toro Network VP

  • Pipe and irrigation head repair 

  • Pump Station Operation: Flowtronics

  • Portable sprinkler set-up and hand watering techniques 

• Understand the entire operation thoroughly, including

  • Turf Management Plan

  • Landscape Management Plan

  • Environmental Program

  • Budgeting Process: Operational and Capital Budgets

  • Golf Maintenance Policies and Procedures

Located in Edina, Minnesota and just a few miles West of Minneapolis, Interlachen is defined by a renowned Donald Ross golf course, considered to be one of his finest. Interlachen is ranked No. 84 nationally and No. 1 overall in Minnesota in Golf Digest’s rankings and has ranked as the top course in the state for more than 25 consecutive years. Adding to the quality of the course is a rich championship history, highlighted by Bobby Jones’ victory at the 1930 U.S. Open to complete the third leg of his eventual Grand Slam.
