Golf Course Superintendent

As the Golf Course Superintendent, you are responsible for the operation of the golf course setup and maintenance. We are looking for a "working" Superintendent who leads, teaches his/her employees by example. Not just driving around in a golf cart. You will work to create an environment where staff is fully trained with each job, involved and enthusiastic, and open line of communications to the staff.

Educational Requirements

If you have 1-3 years experience as a Spray Technician, or Assistant Superintendent or Supervisor/Superintendent, this job is for you. The salary will depend on experience/qualifications. After 90 days probation, salary increase. This golf course is on "cruise control" but we need someone to enhance/create an even better golf course.
Advanced computer skills required for financial reporting and control of operations, including use of Microsoft Office. Must adhere to the approved Budget.

Must have Florida State Pesticide License or ability to acquire within 90 days of employment and maintain an active license. Must be able to work some weekends and Holidays if necessary. I will work with you if you don't have a applicator's license, but are willing to get certified. We will pay all costs.

Experience Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all phases of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, cost control, and monitoring time sheets of personnel
  • Work closely with, advise, and report to the Director of Golf on (ALL) issues related to golf course maintenance.
  • Purchase products, finds lowest price on products, monitor daily records, and maintain inventory, provide receipts to Director of Golf.
  • Train staff on safe operation of maintenance equipment and daily care of equipment.
  • Inspect golf course and maintenance areas/building daily for vandalism and environmental/safety concerns. Keep Maintenance building clean and orderly.
  • Conduct daily facility security checks, ensuring accurate inventory of equipment, tools and keys.
  • Administer and enforces all Club rules, regulations and policies.
  • Manage an aggressive water usage tracking plan and irrigation systems, monitors Hoover pumping station (Flowguard) and provides daily reporting on irrigation throughout the course.
  • Work closely with the Director of Golf to operate the Golf Course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner and to stay within course budget.
  • Schedule maintenance practices around member play, leagues and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to member.
  • Always the ability to operate light motorized equipment.
  • Knowledge of Paspalum grass on putting surfaces are a definite plus. The responsibilities include: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs.
  • Budget/forecasting, financial management, member relations.
  • Scheduling/maintenance of irrigation systems, repair, knowledge of Toro 900-950 heads, complete understanding of pesticide, fungicide, herbicide, applications, knowledge and grinding reels, back lapping bedknives is a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ideal position for someone who wants to put his/her stamp on this golf course.
