Seasonal Intern
Established in 1892, Chicago Golf Club is known to be the first 18-hole golf club in North America as well as a founding member of the USGA. Designed by C.B. Macdonald and later renovated by Seth Raynor, Chicago Golf Club is home to unique and legendary architectural characteristics, such as classic template holes. The course sits on 206 acres of wide-open land with about 80 of those being “low maintenance” fine fescues. CGC is located in Wheaton, IL approximately 25 miles West of downtown Chicago. Chicago Golf Club is currently rated #13 on Golf Digest’s Top 100 list and #19 on Golf.com’s world ranking. Additionally, Golf Digest has ranked CGC #7 in the country for best conditioned golf courses. We are in the beginning stages of preparation to host the 2033 US Women’s Open, as well as the 2036 Walker Cup.
We are currently hiring Interns and AITs for the 2025 season. These aspiring turf professionals will be involved in all aspects of golf course and grounds maintenance. Tasks will include water management, spray applications, aggressive cultural practices, mowing of playing surfaces and operation of all equipment on property all with one end goal, playability. Additionally, each Turf Professional will be presented opportunities to manage the entire staff and will serve as project/task leaders to help build crucial management and leadership skills under the guidance of a young, forward thinking management team. We are four years removed from an extensive restoration project to restore Chicago Golf Club back to Raynor’s original intent. Two acres of approaches were added, as well as four acres of fairway. 13 abandoned bunkers were uncovered, and all bunkers were restored to their original form. Along with the bunker and fairway restoration, a new Toro Infinity two-wire irrigation system was added, as well as a new pump system in February of 2024. Everyone will be taught to become comfortable with the operation and repair of the new irrigation system. We are currently under construction of expanding our maintenance facility to provide an enhanced work experience for all members of our staff. Work is scheduled to be completed by February 2025.
Chicago Golf Club is synonymous with playability, we strive to provide the membership and their guests with championship conditions daily.
