Seasonal Intern
Woodmont CC, located near Washington DC, is a private 36-hole facility that is seeking a motivated student who wants to enhance their skill and experience in turf management. Woodmont offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in both warm season and cool season grasses in the Transition Zone. Interns will be exposed to multiple agronomic practices, water management, spray applications, tournament preparation and setup, and many other golf course maintenance practices. Intern will have the opportunity to learn and grow under a large management team - we currently employ 10 individuals with degrees in turf management from universities across the country. All interns will be sent to work a PGA or LPGA Tour event, along with participating in a US Open final Qualifier at Woodmont and a USGA Championship at Woodmont (US Adaptive Open).
Woodmont features two, 18-hole Championship golf courses (The North Course & The South Course), as well as a 9-hole short course named The Loop.
The North Course is an all cool-season golf course, comprised of A-4 USGA greens, Penncross/007 tees, fairways, and approaches, and combination of Kentucky bluegrass/tall fescue rough. The North Course recently completed multiple course improvements, including a complete bunker renovation, green complex adjustments including some green alterations and re-grassing of approaches to 007 bentgrass, and numerous fairway alterations. The North Course is one of the top-rated clubs in the state of Maryland, gaining such recognition in both Golf Digest and Golfweek. Often, one of the favorite courses amongst area professionals and top amateur's, the North Course is an annual host to a final US Open Qualifier. The North Course was host to the 2020 U.S. Women's Amateur, won by Rose Zhang. The North Course will also be host to the 2028 US Junior Amateur Championship, along with the South Course.
The recently renovated South Course is a combination of warm-season and cool season grasses, featuring 007/Piranha push-up greens, Meyer/Innovation Zoysia fairways, Iron Cutter/Tahoma Bermudagrass tees and approaches, and tall fescue rough. As mentioned above, the South Course recently completed a full renovation early 2024. The renovation provides a unique and fun layout that is garnering rave reviews! The newly renovated course has 60 Acres of short cut (greens, tees, & fairways) with Australian Sand Belt style bunkering that is carved into green and fairway surfaces. The South Course will be host to the 2025 and 2026 US Adaptive Open Championship.
