Sporting Arkansas is a non-profit soccer club with over 800 members, dedicated to providing high-quality youth soccer programs in Northwest Arkansas. Our home base is Sugar Creek Soccer Complex, where we host numerous practices, events, and games. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sports Field Manager to oversee and maintain our fields to the highest professional standards.

 

Position Overview:

The Sports Field Manager will be responsible for the overall care, maintenance, and management of the Sugar Creek Soccer Complex. This role involves ensuring that all fields are in optimal condition for practices, events, and high-profile games. The position will report directly to the Club Director.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility is to provide and maintain high-quality turf fields for all soccer programming at Sugar Creek Soccer Complex. This includes:

Field Maintenance & Management:

  - Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of eight soccer fields, including mowing, fertilization, pesticide applications, irrigation, cultural practices, and managing common areas.

  - Operate and maintain various power and manual tools such as lawn mowers, tractors, Turf Tank, blowers, spreaders, sprayers, and other field equipment.

  - Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to maintain turf health and optimize water usage.

Event & Project Support:

  - Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of field setups for practices, games, tournaments, and other special events.

  - Lead technical assessments of facilities, complete reports on field conditions, and provide improvement recommendations.

Field & Facility Assessments:

  - Solicit and evaluate bid proposals from contractors for field-related projects.

  - Conduct assessments of fields and facilities, document findings, and create comprehensive improvement plans to maintain a high-quality playing surface.

Pesticide and Fertilizer Applications:

  - Apply and oversee the safe and compliant application of pesticides and fertilizers.

General Duties:

  - Perform labor-intensive tasks such as seeding, sprigging, trimming, and mowing.

  - Ensure precise and professional marking and painting of fields for all events.

Education/Experience:

  - Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in Turf Management or a related field is preferred, OR a minimum of 3 years of experience as a sports turf manager.

Technical Skills: 

  - In-depth knowledge of turf field systems and day-to-day field maintenance operations.

  - Expertise in turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and field preparation techniques.

Certifications: 

  - Preferred certifications include a Pesticide Applicator License, Sports Field Manager Certification, or equivalent.

Physical Requirements: 

  - Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting, digging, operating equipment, and standing for extended periods.

Soft Skills:

  - Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

  - Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, especially during peak seasons.
