Spray/Applications Technician

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pesticide/Herbicide Spray Technician to join our team at the prestigious West Point Military Academy. This role is critical in maintaining the academy’s grounds, ensuring the health and aesthetics of its landscape through the safe and effective application of herbicides and insecticides.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Identify various weeds and select, prepare, and apply the appropriate herbicides and insecticides to eliminate weed and plant health issues.

Maintain complete and accurate records of pesticide usage, following all New York State pesticide laws and guidelines.

Oversee the execution of spray applications to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Work collaboratively with other team members to meet company and academy needs, demonstrating high moral values and ethics in all actions.

Manage turf, sports fields, and grounds maintenance, focusing on pest control.

Operate and handle equipment necessary for pesticide application.

Some computer skills required for tracking and reporting purposes.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials between 20 and 50 pounds.

Capable of perceiving and discriminating sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Must be able to work in adverse environmental conditions, including dust, pollen, humidity, extreme temperatures, and possible exposure to toxic agents and wildlife.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

 

Knowledge of herbicide and insecticide chemicals, their application, and safety protocols.

Strong time management, decision-making, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Must be available for early morning shifts.

Willingness to work in a physically demanding and dynamic environment.

 

Reporting Structure:

The Pesticide/Herbicide Spray Technician will report to the Green Team Manager.
