Assistant Superintendent
Cypress Lake Golf Club is currently searching for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent. Works on a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction.
JOB DUTIES:
· Assist in supervising the repair and maintenance of all mechanical and motorized equipment used on the golf course
· Instruct equipment operators in the safe, efficient operation and care of all golf course maintenance equipment
· Assist in supervising and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation and drainage system
· Provides training for employees under his/her supervision as it relates to company safety policies and procedures
· Supervise the daily preparation of the golf course, i.e. hole location, tee markers, rakes, hazard and O.B. markers
· Ensures that safety guidelines are being followed
· Performs sprayer and fertilizer spreader calibrations
· Assist in spraying pesticides, applying fertilizers on greens, tees, fairways, and roughs
· Continue to learn and be on the forefront of new technology for the golf industry
· Foster a management team that possesses and delivers on key strategies of member service, employee relations, team cooperation, and financial responsibility
· Perform other functions as needed
Educational Requirements
· 2 year certificate or equivalent in Turfgrass Science
· Florida pesticide License, Florida BMP License (or obtain within 90 days
Experience Requirements
- Participating knowledge of the game of golf
- Working knowledge of the construction, establishment, and maintenance practices employed on golf course putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs and bunkers
- Planting and culture of the turfgrass used on golf courses
- Planting, cultivating and pruning of ornamental plants, shrubs and trees
- Proper use of fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides
- Pest control methods and products
- Proper drainage methods
- Watering practices and irrigation systems and equipment operation, servicing and repair
- Ability to schedule and supervise work to achieve the most efficient utilization of employees and equipment
- Ability to learn new computer programs and mobile devise applications
- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to function well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines
- Must possess mature personal discretion and sound judgment
- Strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, superior problem solving and decision-making skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
