Golf Course Superintendent
This position is with The Davey Golf: A division of the Davey Tree Expert Company at Broad Stripes Golf Club at Stonecrest located in Summerfield, FL.
Summary: The CLS Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for driving profitability and operational efficiency for golf course clients. This role involves managing daily operations, leading teams, ensuring compliance, fostering a safety culture, maintaining strong client relationships, and providing on-call service.

Job Classification: The CLS Golf Course Superintendent is an exempt, full-time employee position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions*):
● Oversee the care and maintenance of golf course grounds. *
● Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for golf course management regarding daily project operations, maintaining proactive communication. *
● Lead and coach team members effectively to promote growth and a positive work environment.*
● Foster employee growth and development through coaching, training, and goal setting, while also ensuring clear task expectations and providing comprehensive safety training. *
● Cultivate and uphold a culture of safety within the workplace to prioritize the well-being of employees and mitigate risks. *
● Build a strong relationship with clients. *
● Conduct walk-throughs and/or drive-throughs with client representatives. *
● Attend client meetings and provide regular updates for clear communication as necessary. *
● Oversee fleet and equipment management to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance while optimizing costs. *
● Ensure full compliance with the fertilizer and pesticide program, creating, evaluating, and implementing the plant health care schedule to meet all rules, regulations, and licensing requirements. *
● Maintain, repair, and program irrigation systems for optimal functionality. *
● Proactively identify and submit for consideration any problem-solving and site enhancement opportunities. *
● Optimize scheduling to enhance operational efficiency and minimize disruption to golfing guests.
● Operate equipment for golf course grounds maintenance to assist crews as necessary.*
● Maximize profitability through goal attainment and efficient management of daily operations, leveraging tools and reports to make strategic decisions. *
● Enhance administrative operations by optimizing efficiencies, streamlining processes, and fostering effective communication and decision-making.*
● Perform on-call duties when issues arise. *
● Perform other related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
● Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
● Required: Driver’s license.
● Required: Acquire applicator licenses as necessary per state requirements.
● Required: Ability to complete required safety courses upon hire.
● Required: Ability to complete Davey Career Development Program (CDP) books.
● Required: Ability to operate power equipment.
● Required: Basic computer skills.
● Required: Knowledge of irrigation systems and related components.
● Preferred: 3 years of experience as a golf course assistant superintendent or similar position.
● Preferred: Member of Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and/or two-year or four-year degree in Turfgrass or related field.
● Preferred: Fluency in Spanish is beneficial.
● In some cases, the government clients Davey Tree Expert Company contracts with conduct their own background check. Results of this background check may affect the potential for hire.
