Equipment/Shop Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible to perform preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure all golf course equipment is safe for operations while maintaining a safe and clean shop environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
2. Spot checks equipment for performance on the course, makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
3. Regulates employees' use of equipment in absence of superintendent and assistant superintendent, if needed, and performs other duties as directed by the superintendent.
4. Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment, including, diesel-, electric- and gasoline-powered automobiles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.
5. Performs mechanical service and repairs on vehicles and equipment including small power equipment and mowers.
6. Performs preventive maintenance, systems diagnosis, engine repair, brake repair, electrical repair, hydraulic systems repair, heating & cooling systems repair, suspension and steering repair.
7. Performs road tests of vehicles to verify completeness of repairs.
8. Welds and cuts for maintenance, repair and manufacturing of equipment.
9. Responds to on course equipment breakdowns.
10. Diagnoses, repairs electronically controlled gates, emergency generators, fuel stations, overhead doors, pressure washers and shop equipment.
11. Maintain accurate records of work projects and regular maintenance of the golf course fleet. Schedules preventative maintenance and safety inspections on all service equipment.
12. Contacts parts suppliers for pricing information and part availability in preparation of bid quotes, and order parts as needed.
13. Maintains cleanliness of shop and working order of shop equipment.
14. Reports to work for on-call after hours, as assigned.
15. Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years’ experience in diesel and automotive repair.
Experience Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior golf course experience preferred but not required.
Post high school training/certification in a mechanic field preferred.
