Assistant Superintendent

True North Golf Club is seeking a turf grass professional to round out our key staff for the 2025 season. This position could be an Assistant Superintendent, Assistant in Training, or Intern. We are just looking to add a turf grass professional who is enthusiastic about turf, brings high-level attention to detail, is willing to learn, wants to further their career in the turf grass industry, and delivers a high-quality golf course maintenance product and services.

True North along with the Golf Course Superintendent has a great reputation for developing and promoting (over 20 Assistants into Superintendent positions) their Turf Grass Professionals into industry positions and engaging them in numerous professional development opportunities.

The Turf Grass Professional reports to the Golf Course Superintendent, Jeff VerCautren. Under the Superintendent's supervision, the Turf Grass Professional is in a learning and managing capacity on how to direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course areas, including but not limited to, tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths; the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required. The Turf Grass Professional may serve in the Superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.

Educational Requirements

2-year, 4-year or certificate of education in Turf Grass Maintenance and/or related field.

Experience Requirements

Based on experience we can fit the candidate to whatever position best fits their qualifications. 

Special Requirements

Responsible for all facets of golf course maintenance on 6 golf holes with the other two Turf Grass Professionals.

Instructs and trains equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.

Will be involved with all pesticide applications and calibration of pesticide application equipment.

Motivated to align and partner with the Superintendent and of all facets of golf course maintenance to complete all tasks to the highest standards and achieve team goals.

Will be responsible for course moisture management on specific 6 holes and areas of the property to give firm and fast playing conditions.

Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety, and personnel discipline.

Involvement in setting Agronomy Standards for the upcoming season.

Will be allowed to gain volunteer experience during the offseason for at least 1 PGA or LPGA tournament.

We would like the Turfgrass Professional to be interested in the golf game. To play True North at least once a month.

Job Benefits

$20 (50k) to $24 (70k) based on experience.

200 to 500 hours OT.

Uniform allowance.

Golfing privileges.

2 weeks paid vacation in the off-season.

Local education expenses are paid for.
