Assistant Superintendent

Located in Madison, New Jersey, often referred to as the "Rose City," Madison Golf Club, a distinguished nine-hole private course established in 1896, is ranked among the top 25 nine hole golf courses in the world, reflecting its storied history and commitment to excellence. The course recently modernized its infrastructure with the installation of a cutting-edge RainBird IC irrigation system in 2022, ensuring optimal playing conditions throughout the year. In 2023, a major bunker renovation enhanced both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the course. Looking to the future, the club has exciting plans for a new practice facility and a complete tee renovation, further solidifying its reputation as a premier golfing destination for enthusiasts seeking both challenge and beauty in a historic setting.

 The qualified candidate will be involved with not only the day to day management of MGC and its employees but also every aspect of current and future projects listed above. This individual needs to driven with a good work ethic while also being able to think on their feet as golf course management changes daily. I believe this is a great opportunity to advance one's career and future goals. Typical work week in season is 50-55 hours and 40 hours during off season.

Qualifications:

• Potential candidate must have a minimum 2 years experience in turf industry
• High school diploma and turf certificate or degree in turf related field
• Must obtain NJ Pesticide License within 90 days of hire date

Responsibilities Required of Assistant include but are not limited to:

• working closely with the superintendent
• Possess a strong knowledge base for the daily maintenance of a golf course including, but not limited to hand watering, operating and troubleshooting of a RainBird irrigation system, pesticide and fertilizer applications, record keeping, IPM measures, equipment operation and golf course set up.
• Necessary to work flexible schedule based on the needs of course in all weather conditions
• Planning and implementing cultural practices for all playing surfaces
• Effective scheduling of daily jobs to crew is vital to maximize time
• Effectively communicate with employees and clubhouse personnel to keep an open line of communication and understanding of the status of the golf course.
• Accurately perform chemical and fertilizer applications to all golf course entities including greens, tees, fairways, bunker faces, roughs and natives.
