Irondequoit Country Club is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent who possesses a passion for the game of golf, tremendous care for the well-being and development of their team, and a desire to be part of a Club whose vision is to continue to evolve as a premiere club in Rochester, New York.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader with a talent for driving a culture of collaboration, and teamwork. This individual must be a genuine, accountable, and engaging leader with a keen eye for detail coupled with a true understanding of the agronomic details of what makes an exceptional golfing experience. The ability to strategize, plan and set goals through daily operations, both short term and long term, is a necessary function of the position.

About Irondequoit Country Club
Irondequoit Country Club (ICC), one of the oldest and most distinguished clubs in Rochester, New York. It is home to a stunning, historic 18-hole golf course designed by the renowned architect Donald Ross. The course showcases classic Ross elements, including turtleback greens and inviting approaches, all nestled within some of the region's most picturesque topography.

Recently, ICC has invested significantly in the Club, committing over $4 million to campus-wide improvements. Of this, more than $1 million has been dedicated to enhancing the driving range, practice areas, and a bunker project that will commence August 2025, to meet the high expectations of our growing, active membership.

Since 2020, Irondequoit Country Club has welcomed a surge of avid and talented golfers, including many families who contribute to the club’s unique atmosphere. Known for our exceptional service, amenities, and community, ICC offers one of the most unique, intimate country club experiences in Rochester. The Club is nearing a waitlist for golfing memberships.

Golf Course Superintendent Position overview
The Golf Course Superintendent (GCS) reports directly to the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer and has responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the golf course, practice areas and Clubhouse grounds. The GCS will lead and manage their department to ensure spectacular golfing conditions and exceptional landscaping.

Continuing education and staying at the forefront of research and technology are an expectation. An understanding of course conditions, specifically within the many premier Clubs of Rochester, New York, is a plus. In addition, the GCS will provide innovative and relevant leadership and in perpetuating and fostering an educational culture of developing and producing future turf professionals. The GCS must have a natural style of sincere engagement with members and staff with a love of the game of golf along with a relentless attention to detail.

Educational Requirements

A degree in turf management or related field of study is required.

GCSAA Certification and Pesticide Certification is required.  

Experience Requirements

 

  • Golf Course Superintendent or the First Assistant at a top-tier club
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Must have an outstanding professional history
  • Friendly and personable presence a must
