Golf Course Superintendent
Position Summary:
Twin Woods Golf Course is a PGA 9-hole course, looking for a mature, hands-on superintendent to continue to improve our property as an asset to the community. This position could be part-time for an experienced or recently retired person.
The purpose of this position is to maintain, manage and improve the golf course grounds. The superintendent oversees the outside team and is responsible for the turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, budget/forecasting, scheduling/maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues.
Twin Woods Golf Course has been family owned for 65 years, with fantastic loyal golfers, many of whom are our friends. The superintendent will ensure that staff are engaged, trained and valued, with open communication and respect for themselves, members, guests, and the property.
Duties:
Turfgrass management: Maintaining plant materials and turfgrass
Oversees, direct and assist staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement, spraying, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs, the preparation of soil plant beds for aesthetically pleasing arrangements and tending to high stress areas on the facility grounds.
Provide a detailed annual plan for the course including rotation of high traffic areas and facility upgrades.
Manage water use and irrigation systems and provide monthly reporting on retaining ponds, wells, and other water source usage.
Ensure that all course equipment is regularly maintained according to a schedule and budget.
Supervise and manage maintenance staff.
Oversee outside staff to ensure proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment.
Supervise and participate in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Supervise daily maintenance expenses.
Assist in developing annual operating budget and plans for maintenance and capital improvement projects.
Maintain records and complete required reporting.
Schedule maintenance practices around leagues and peak times to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to golfers.
Coordinate snow removal and winter maintenance activities when necessary.
Ensure the facility follows government guidelines and safety regulations.
Inspect the building storm water flow on a regular basis that includes the gutters, drains and downspouts on the property.
Administer and enforce all rules, regulations, and policies for staff.
Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within club safety, state, and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
Educational Requirements
Two (2) year degree or certificate in turf management (or related field, like agronomy, horticulture, plant science, soil science)
Experience Requirements
Experience as a Golf Superintendent
