Seasonal Intern
Located 4 miles from Lower Manhattan on the New York Harbor, Bayonne Golf Club is the "true links" gem of NYC. Opening in 2006, Bayonne Golf Club continues to be revered as one of the area’s most exclusive golfing experiences. Bayonne Golf Club is consistently ranked among the best courses both in the state of New Jersey and nationally. We are looking for a person with a strong work ethic and desire to advance within the industry to work very closely alongside the assistant superintendents and superintendent. An internship at Bayonne Golf Club is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience maintaining a high end private course in an extremely competitive market. Interns at Bayonne Golf Club quickly develop the skill set needed to become an assistant superintendent and superintendent. We pride ourselves in always promoting from within whenever possible. We are currently regrading and soding all 19 greens with 007XL bentgrass. Many capital improvement projects have been completed over the last 3 years. They include new greens construction, tee construction, path installation, stack sod bunker construction, and significant regrading projects. Projects scheduled for 2025 are new green construction, building of shortgame practice area, stack sod bunker construction, and fairway regrading. Bayonne Golf Club is an excellent opportunity for a student attending Rutgers University. Rutgers is located about 25 minutes away. Educational Requirements
Currently enrolled or recent graduate from a turf grass management program.
Experience Requirements
Some golf course grounds maintenance experience preferred but not necessary for consideration
Special Requirements
Interns at Bayonne Golf Club will work closely with the assistant superintendents and superintendent. They will be involved in all aspects of golf course grounds maintenance including but not limited to the following.
- Course/Tournament set up
- Pesticide and Fertilizer application and calibration
- Water management of greens, tees, fairways, and rough
- Mowing of all playing surfaces / operation of all essential equipment
- Small crew management
- Tee/Bunker renovation and reconstruction
- Irrigation and drainage system trouble shooting/repair
- Hand watering and syringing
- Construction
