Job Description
Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent, Director of Golf Course Maintenance & Grounds
FLSA Status: Salaried/Exempt
Job Tasks/Duties
- Works alongside the Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to enhance Golf Course Operation.
- Assures that the standards of guest services are always met at consistent levels.
- Trains employees in job function, equipment usage and quality standards.
- Performs daily golf course set-up/inspection.
- Maintains all golf course irrigation.
- Implements and monitors fertilization and chemical programs.
- Works closely with supervisors and employees to maintain a positive work environment which includes communication, training, discipline and evaluations.
- Initiates purchase orders for golf course supplies including golf course accessories, chemicals, fertilizers and topdressing.
- Assists the superintendent in development, presentation, and documentation of safety meetings
- Performs all other duties as required.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
· Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
· Associate degree in turfgrass management/golf course management or related field or equivalent experience.
· Two years work experience in golf course maintenance operation.
· Extensive operation of turf equipment.
· Knowledge of both irrigation and chemical related applications.
· Continuing education classes related to golf course maintenance.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· This position includes (long periods of) climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling and repetitive motions.
· Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
· Must be able to navigate through rough and uneven terrain.
· Must have ability to work in hot and muggy conditions on continuous basis.
· Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
· Must be physically able to do assigned work as outlined above.
· Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
