Responsibilities
Performs highly skilled work in the implementation of the maintenance of turfgrass, synthetic surfaces, clay and dirt management including moisture control, pesticide applications, disease and pest identification, irrigation system repair and scheduling, and current NCAA regulations pertaining to field layouts and management.
Performs infield clay dirt management utilizing rake/drag and serves as a subject matter expert on clay and dirt moisture management and repair. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of Mike Martin Field including repacking game mound and 5 bullpen mounds.
Performs string trimming, edging, blowing, removal of leaves, and debris, weeds and litter at Athletics Department owned fields as needed. Performs aeration, overseeding, vertical mowing, sweeping, grooming, and topdressing of fields. Responsible for installation and removal of ground covers and tarps, athletics goals and nets and flags.
Assists in field renovations to include grading, sodding, and irrigation repairs, grooming synthetic turf, proper setup for games, practices and outside events.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a turfgrass field and one year of experience or a combination of a 2-year degree in a turfgrass background and 3 years of related experience. Florida Pesticide license or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or ability to obtain upon hire.
Ability to communicate effectively bother verbally and writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment and materials used in area of work.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
