Golf Course

Rate of Pay: $70K – $100K  DOQ

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt Full Time

Position Overview

Morton Golf is looking for a qualified Superintendent who will be entrusted with the golf facility’s conditioning, golf course maintenance standards and management of the maintenance staff. The Superintendent and his staff are expected to maintain the highest quality of the Morton Golf Business Culture.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • ·         Manages all aspects of golf course maintenance, including groundskeeping, equipment, and staff.
  • ·         Ensures the highest quality of course conditions through daily inspections, preventative maintenance, and timely repairs.
  • ·         Develops and manages annual budgets for maintenance operations and capital improvement projects.
  • ·         Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • ·         Oversees construction, renovation, and reconstruction projects, both internal and external.
  • ·         Fosters a customer-centric culture and addresses customer concerns promptly.
  • ·         Adheres to local, state, and federal regulations, especially regarding pesticide application and environmental standards.
  • ·         Participates in strategic planning for the golf course's future.
  • ·         Maintains and repairs equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • ·         Maintains accurate records of budgets, payroll, inventory, and maintenance activities.
  • ·         Effectively communicates with the Director of Golf, Executive Management Team, and staff.
  • ·         Stays current with industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications

  • ·         Must have 10 years’ experience or more as an Assistant or Head Superintendent at a golf course.  
  • ·         Bachelor of Science Degree in Horticulture or 10 years or more of Assistant or Head Superintendent experience required.
  • ·         Must be a Class A Member of the GCSAA.
  • ·         Qualified Applicator Certificate and Pest Control Advisor License Required.
  • ·         Computer literate and computerized irrigation experience required.
  • ·         Must have a Valid California Driver’s License.
  • ·         Deep understanding of turfgrass management, golf course construction, and golf rules and strategies.
  • ·         Ability to interpret contracts and enforce provisions with contractors and vendors.
  • ·         Knowledge of Integrated Pest Management and wildlife management practices.
  • ·         Strong administrative and executive abilities, including problem-solving and decision-making.
  • ·         Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to golf course operations.
  • ·         Team player who has a strong work ethic.
  • ·         Excellent communication skills at all company levels.
  • ·         Adept at problem-solving, organizing, multitasking, and prioritizing.
  • ·         Motivated for continuous learning and self-improvement.
