We are committed to elimination of poa in our putting surfaces and teeing grounds. We deploy a multitude of tactics to remove poa mechanically, chemically and through cultural practices that inhibit poa
growth. You will be a part of regressing select tees and approaches that have poa levels over our acceptable threshold. Managing pure A-4 putting surfaces in a short growing season is a skill that every turf student should learn and at Martis Camp you have that opportunity. We will help tailor an internship that will add to your current skill set. This will allow us to build upon what you already know and teach you what you need to know to be successful in this industry. Not only will you get premier course experience you will be able to attend club meetings, local GCSAA chapter meetings and be involved in agronomic planning. We will build your leadership skills through crew management, leading projects and professional development. Said candidate does not need to possess proficiency in these categories only willingness to learn.
Either 3- or 6-month internships are available and can begin as early as April. Please send a résumé and cover letter when applying. This internship has a flexible schedule that will allow the candidate to enjoy all the exciting outdoor activities the great Lake Tahoe area has to offer. Explore amazing hikes on the Pacific Crest Trail, blue-ribbon fly-fishing waters and world-class skiing at the spring skiing capital of the world. It is rare to be able to play 18 holes of golf and ski in the same day, but that is all possible with an internship at Martis Camp.
Martis Camp is committed to providing championship level playing surfaces for our members on a daily basis. We also understand the importance of hosting USGA and regional championship tournaments to help grow the game of golf and showcase our facilities.

Martis Camp is a private residential community located in North Lake Tahoe. The Tom Fazio designed golf course has A4 putting surfaces, Dominant Extreme bentgrass tees, and Kentucky bluegrass fairways. We are in the process of resurfacing tees and approaches with poa level over our acceptable threshold. Our Golf Course Maint team also takes care of seven multiuse parks, 18-hole bentgrass putting course, six bocce ball courts, croquet lawn, six water features, amphitheater, 26 miles of hiking and biking trails, and all landscapes for Martis facility buildings. We have a broad scope of work outside of the golf course so this allows us to expose interns to new and exciting opportunities that you would not normally get from just a golf course.
We will also be evaluating problem areas to update drainage and irrigation and add to those as needed. In the 2024 season we began rebuilding our front nine and back nine restrooms and transforming those into comfort stations with beverages, made to order food, snacks and much more! In the 2021 season we completed a full bunkers renovation complete with reshaping all bunkers, all new sand, liners, irrigation and drainage.
