Golf Course Superintendent

Full-time

Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor, Maine is searching for its next Course Superintendent.  This is a rare and unique opportunity for the right individual.  Our current golf course superintendent will be retiring in 2025, and will assist in the training and transition of the new superintendent.  Current superintendents, as well as assistant superintendents ready to advance their careers, are therefore encouraged to apply.

Located on Mount Desert Island on the coast of Maine, neighboring Acadia National Park, Kebo is a member-owned semi-private club established in 1888, and is recognized as one of the top courses in Maine.  We have a tradition of excellent conditions, challenging greens and beautiful surroundings.  Improvements and restorations have been ongoing, and a new irrigation system is scheduled for installation in 2027.

The person chosen to continue this tradition of excellence must be a motivated, energetic and self-starting individual.  He or she will lead, assist, and participate in the daily operations of course maintenance as well as make strategic course improvements during the off season. This is a hands-on position directly overseeing a team of year round and seasonal staff members.

  • Work closely with the Proshop to ensure the course is prepared for tournaments and regular play.  Good communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively to provide the best golfer experience possible are essential.

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors.  The superintendent shall attend monthly BOD and Green Committee meetings.  Updates, problems and plans should be reported.

  • Weekend and holiday coverage is required during the golf season, with the help of the staff, and flexibility of time commitment is a must.  The superintendent is expected to devote increased hours to course operations during the playing season, while fewer hours are expected during the off season.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) are necessary to supervise your staff, coordinate with the proshop staff and report to the BOD.
