Turf Equipment Technician
Overview:
The Oaks Golf Course, part of a multi-course facility, is seeking a dedicated, hands-on Equipment Technician to join our team. This key role involves overseeing the maintenance and management of the course’s extensive equipment fleet to ensure that all machinery is in optimal working condition. Reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and Director of Grounds, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the equipment that keeps our courses in top shape.
Course Information:
The Oaks, designed by Greg Martin, stretches over 6,736 yards with a par-3 emphasis. The course features bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways, offering a country club experience with thick rough and true-rolling putting surfaces. Recent renovations include the installation of Better Billy Bunkers in 2022, enhancing both playability and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all equipment is in optimal working condition and available when needed for course maintenance.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of all machinery used in course upkeep, including Toro mowing equipment, carts, tractors, diesel engines, hydraulics and small engines.
- Manage equipment inventory, maintain appropriate parts levels, and ensure the maintenance shop is clean, safe, and well-organized.
- Assist with the intake of new equipment and manage the equipment budget, monitoring costs and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
- Foster positive working relationships with course staff, vendors, and equipment personnel.
- Train and mentor staff on proper equipment use and maintenance practices.
Experience Requirements
Employment Standards:
- 4+ years of experience as a Mechanic or Equipment Manager, with in-depth knowledge of small engine mechanics and golf course turf equipment.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, inventory, and equipment maintenance schedules effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and lift up to 75 lbs.
Valid driver’s license required
Job Benefits
Salary Range:
$60,000 to $70,000 per year, including Health Insurance, Dental, 401(k), WGCSA Dues, Education, Meals, and Clothing Allowance.
