Golf Course Superintendent

Full-time

Golf Course Superintendent

Salary $90,000-$140,000 DOE

Turlock Golf and Country Club, a private club, was founded in 1924 and the original championship design is still one of the most enjoyable and challenging courses in the area.  Our fairways are Hybrid Bermuda providing an excellent playing surface throughout the year and Bent Grass Greens.  Located in the Central Valley of California, the temperate climate makes for enjoyable year-round play.

The Club is pleased to be accepting applications for the position of Golf Course Superintendent.  This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional with a track record of excellent performance to be a part of a management team focused on constantly improving the member experience.  The successful candidate will be a “hands-on” leader while preparing and preserving the Club’s most valuable asset, the golf course.  The Superintendent is expected to be a visible presence with the management team and club members as well as various committees and the Board of Directors.  They will have a strong background in agronomy or turf management in a golf course environment.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as are demonstrated leadership and collaborative business acumen.

The Superintendent understands that continuing education and professional development along with strong peer group relations are vital.  Knowledge of proven turf and course management practices, staying abreast of new research and the appropriate use of new technologies will allow them to elevate course conditions and create sustainable improvements. As a valued member of the Turlock Golf and Country Club community, the Superintendent will reside within 25 miles of the course.

The Superintendent position reports to the Club’s General Manager but will work closely with the Course and Pro-Shop Committee and the Board of Directors.  They will have responsibility for understanding and implementing the Board’s strategic direction and goals to deliver a golf course that meets or exceeds the expectations of our members and guests.

The position requires an understanding that a superior, private club golf course experience is the daily expectation and that playability and enhancing the views and aesthetics of the property go hand in hand.
