Assistant Superintendent

The Blind Brook Club located in Purchase, NY is seeking to hire a Senior Assistant Superintendent.  A 1917 Seth Raynor design and restored by Jim Urbina in 2020, the Blind Brook Club in Westchester County is a hidden gem which sits among some of the best golf clubs in the country. Under the guidance of architect Jim Urbina, the club is committed to enhancing the golfing experience with continued architectural refinements in restoring this classic Seth Raynor to its fullest potential.  

 

The assistant superintendent duties are not limited to but include: Project management and oversight of all agronomic practices, daily supervising and training of staff, course set-up and managing the golf course and grounds to the highest standards.  The right individual will be self-motivated and carry high expectations for themselves and the golf course.  Must be a team player and have strong communication skills. We promote a work/life balance with every other weekend off in-season.  40-hour work weeks in the off-season.

Starting in 2025 – 2027

- Native rough (fine fescue) conversion of 4+ acres 

- XGD drainage in fairways and approaches

- Green expansions / modifications 

- Tree Removal 

- Tee construction 

- Expanding and building a fairway nursery 

- Tree removal 

- Greens department building enhancements 

Educational Requirements

Turf Certificate, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in agronomy or turfgrass related field.  

The club offers scholarships for continuing education.  

Experience Requirements

Desired Character traits:

-Ability to multi-task, adapt to the environment and prioritize the needs of turfgrass

-Construct, organize and communicate daily assignments to staff and other assistants 

-Hands-on leader with attention to detail and efficiency 

4-5 years working on a golf course 

Special Requirements

Must obtain New York State Pesticide license within 90 days of hire
