Irrigation Technician

EDUCATION:      High School Diploma or equivalent.  Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with clients, members, guests, and co-workers.

 

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:     Minimum one year experience working on commercial irrigation systems.  2-5 years of experience preferred. Valid state driver’s license.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:     Complete knowledge of the individual components of commercial irrigation systems to include controllers, valves, irrigation heads, low volume applications and piping.  Ability to retrofit existing system to wireless communication a plus.

JOB SUMMARY:     Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the irrigation systems on property.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:     Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions; Able to work bent over for extended periods of time; Capable of driving a motor vehicle; walk short distances on the golf course or grounds to work on equipment; read as-builts for irrigation systems. Perform all labor intense work; lifting 50 pounds for an extended period of time.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

1.       Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, holidays and split shifts.

2.       Arrive to work on time, consistently.

3.       Upon entering the property, arrive in proper uniform, crisp, clean and in good repair.

4.       Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.

5.       Attend all required training, safety courses; attend office and departmental meetings.

6.       Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.  Knowledgeable in Material Safety Data Sheet procedures.

7.       Learn the use of all, grounds and irrigation equipment and all accompanying safety features.

8.       Accountable for the repair, replacement, installation and maintenance of the irrigation systems, to include sprinkler heads and their performance on property.

9.   Perform any other work as assigned by the Director of Horticulture and Superintendent

10.   Carry out all trouble shooting for electrical problems concerning the irrigation systems on property.
