Equipment/Shop Manager

Full-time

Director of Equipment Maintenance

Troon/National Links Trust (NLT) is excited to announce the creation of a Director of Equipment Maintenance position for the 3 city golf courses in Washington, DC. Over the next 10 years, the 3 courses will be renovated by renowned golf course architects Gil Hanse, Beau Welling and Tom Doak. The first renovation, the William Flynn designed Rock Creek Golf Course, began in September of 2024. The first step of the renovation is preparing the site for the new maintenance facility. Construction of the maintenance facility and new club house will begin in the spring of 2025 with the golf course going under construction in the spring of 2026. As Rock Creek Golf Course is under construction, the permitting process has begun for the renovation of Langston Golf Course. The plan is to move from one renovation to the next with the final piece of the puzzle being East Potomac Golf Links, designed by Walter Travis. All maintenance facilities will be new construction with the renovations.

As the renovation of the 3 golf course will take nearly a decade and an emphasis on improving course conditions leading up to renovation has been prioritized. The majority of a Toro $2.5 million equipment package has been delivered in the fall of 2024 with the remaining pieces coming quarter 1 of 2025. Once Rock Creek Golf Course has been renovated another $1 million worth of Toro equipment will be delivered. It is imperative that we protect this investment moving forward. We are looking for an individual that has the passion for building a team similar to the initiative embarked upon on the agronomic side of the operation within the last year. As the courses get renovated, we would like to place Equipment Technicians that have been trained from within our own ranks. The Director of Equipment Maintenance will be a key part of the management team and have full autonomy to make the decisions regarding the use and the maintenance of the equipment. The Director of Equipment Maintenance will also play a key role in the design of the future maintenance facilities at Langston Golf Course and East Potomac Golf Links. We are trying to set the example for the world of what public golf could and should be. Please see the NLT website (nationallinkstrust.org) for more information about our organization.

The budgets of the 3 properties in 2025 will be $3.1 million with $140,000 dedicated to equipment maintenance.
