Club Overview
The Springhaven Club, founded in 1896, is an 18-hole private facility in suburban Philadelphia. The club sits on 110 acres and hosts an average of 25,000 rounds. Membership is strong, active, and very invested in their club. The golf course recently came off a two-year renovation which included the redesign of all bunkers, including capillary concrete, several significant green expansions, additional tee complexes, as well as some fairways expansions. Phase 1 of our driving range project was recently completed, with commencement of Phase 2 to be determined. A new irrigation system is in the design phase and is planned within the next 2-4 years. A Drainage Master Plan was recently submitted to the Club with phasing and implementation being considered.
Position Overview
The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Superintendent and Lead Assistant regarding daily operations, staff management, water management, disease/pest scouting and spray applications, irrigation repair/scheduling, project planning/implementation, and inventory management. It is expected that the Assistant Superintendent be self-motivated, lead by example, and possess the drive and dedication that is necessary to advance in the industry.
April-October Avg. 45-60 hours/week Work every other weekend
November-March Avg. 35-45 hours/week Work every third weekend
**Our goal is to work towards every third weekend year-round, barring special events**
Educational Requirements
4-year degree or 2-year certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field is preferred. Candidates from apprenticeship type programs will also be considered.
Must obtain PA Pesticide Applicator’s License within 1 year from date of hire.
Experience Requirements
2-3 years of prior golf course experience is preferred. Candidates with limited golf course experience will be considered if they display a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
