This position supports the goals of the Parks and Open Space Department, which manages an attractive and vast array of outdoor recreational resources including Bella Rosa Golf Course, parks, open spaces, trails and Milavec Reservoir. This position joins a team of highly dedicated individuals in a supportive environment where all are working to a common goal of providing our residents and visitors an amazing experience in their outdoor spaces.
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent performs a variety of supervisory, administrative, technical and maintenance work in the operational planning and maintenance of the Town’s Bella Rosa Golf Course and surrounding grounds, open spaces and facilities. Responsible for overseeing assigned projects and areas and participates in work as needed. Responsible for daily work distribution and maintaining work schedules. Exercises close supervision to maintenance workers as well as to employee(s) in lead worker position and provides technical instruction to crews.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Under the direction of the Superintendent, leads the overall maintenance of the Bella Rosa Golf Course and surrounding facilities and grounds including but not limited to: turf, native landscapes, trees, irrigation systems, pump stations, equipment, ponds, bunkers, driving range, cart paths, landscaping, clubhouse grounds and structures.
- Acts as Superintendent in their absence.
- Implements and provides recommendations for the golf course agronomic program.
- Implements standard operating procedures for golf course maintenance.
- Assist the Superintendent and General Manager with the annual operations and capital budget requests.
- Maintain communication with the clubhouse staff in regards to maintenance activity, as needed.
- Strive to ensure all first/last impression opportunities with guests are positive.
- Leads assigned projects in the Department’s annual work plans and capital improvement plans.
- Leads assigned personnel including: coaching, training and discipline.
- Monitors turfgrass and landscape irrigation requirements and schedules required operations.
- Leads in-house construction, special projects and landscape improvements made to assigned areas.
- Maintains records of the equipment, materials, personnel and time required to complete duties.
- Orders materials and supplies for projects.
- Conducts pesticide and fertilizer applications in accordance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Promotes adherence to and effectively models appropriate safety rules, regulations and practices.
- Promotes teamwork and encourages an atmosphere that will stimulate an exchange of ideas, information and job experience within the Department.
- Participates in snow control on Town trails, sidewalks and other areas.
- Participates in Town supervisor meetings, trainings and initiatives as assigned.
- Assists the Parks Manager and Open Space & Trails Manager on inter-division projects and the maintenance of the Town’s non-potable water system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
- Possess a Qualified Supervisor Pesticide License in the State of Colorado in the Turf and Aquatic categories within one year from date of hire.
- Possess Certified Golf Course Irrigation Auditor standing with the Irrigation Association within two years of date of hire.
- Possess a Class C Membership with the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association within one year from date of hire.
- First Aid and CPR certified within one year from date of hire.
- Preferred, but not required: Associate’s Degree in Turfgrass Management or similar.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience in golf course maintenance.
- One year of experience as a supervisor or crew leader in similar field preferred.
